If you read their writings, you get an understanding of why.

They are generally disciples of people like Derrida and Foucault (who is a disciple of Nietzche), as well as followers of Marx. They believe two things that make lying a positive duty for them:

1. They believe that all truth is merely "language games," and

2. That the secret behind all apparently "moral" discourse and all "truth" talk is a desire to seize power.

So discourse is not rightly oriented to the articulating of truth; rather, all discourse, and especially discourses of morality and truth, are, to their understanding, unveiled as stratagems of power.

They believe you're only saying what you're saying because you're trying to seize "hegemony," and take over power, and "control the discourse" or "control the political project." They do likewise.

In a CRT world, nobody says things for truth's sake: rather, they use truth-discourses to seize power. And since they believe they are already "in the right," since they believe they are defending "oppressed" people, they believe they are also morally justified in using language tricks of any kind to advance that agenda. The appearance of truth or morality is useful to them; but submitting to objective truth or any external morality is not.

Hence the first law of CRT followers: "They always lie."
