Interesting.
Van Jones has been described as a communist.
The video begins with a reasonable mea culpa for liberals, which sparks the question, why is he doing this?
The answer begins around 10:30, when he begins to define and advise conservatives, ostensibly to help them.
After the answer, the rest of whatever he said was probably fog, because why would a Leftist communist want to help conservatives with advice?

If not for past liberals you wouldn't have your liberty.
ps. What do Americans call people who believe in free speech, freedom of the press, equal rights under the law...?

Re: Exposing Liberal Hypocrisy and Conservative Close-Mindedness
In the video, Van Jones uses the word, liberal, to establish his dichotomy.
John Kennedy was a liberal.
Was John Kennedy also a communist?
(Answer, no.)
Is Van Jones both a communist and a liberal, or, is he both a communist and a Leftist?

Re: Exposing Liberal Hypocrisy and Conservative Close-Mindedness
I'm sure he's been called a lot of things. Do you remember who called him a communist, or what he has said or done to warrant being called that?
Well hang on a mo; can we first establish that he is a leftist communist?Walker wrote: ↑Sun Jul 08, 2018 11:34 amThe video begins with a reasonable mea culpa for liberals, which sparks the question, why is he doing this?

In the first ten minutes, Jones he says that Fox News is more right, than CNN is left.vegetariantaxidermy wrote: ↑Sun Jul 08, 2018 12:08 pm If not for past liberals you wouldn't have your liberty.

I’ve watched CNN.
They’re insane.
Ergo, so much for Jones’ appropriation of the anachronistic implication of Liberal.

Impartially research your video.

Re: Exposing Liberal Hypocrisy and Conservative Close-Mindedness
And what about those countries that have a really high standard of living, which Americans call 'socialist' countries, that have far more liberty than the US? Are they 'liberal'? They have a lot of freedom (including freedom to marry someone of the same sex). Australia has a fascist far-right Govt. called the 'Liberal Party'. See if you can get your heads around THAT one.
Re: Exposing Liberal Hypocrisy and Conservative Close-Mindedness
I did. And I looked here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_Jones There is nothing in either to suggest that he is a communist. He describes himself as a liberal, and that seems to fit the information I have so far seen. It may simply be that you and I have different definitions of communist, but what in your view makes him a communist?
Re: Exposing Liberal Hypocrisy and Conservative Close-Mindedness
You need to read your own source again.
Don't attribute lack of emphasis to lack of significance.

Re: Exposing Liberal Hypocrisy and Conservative Close-Mindedness
Done. There is nothing I have read or heard him say to suggest that he is a communist as I understand the term. As I said, it may simply be that you and I have different definitions of 'communist'. That being so, no amount of me re-reading or re-watching links I have posted is likely to change that. It's up to you who you call a communist, or what you call communism, but I'm confident you don't mean to imply approval. So, what has he said or done to deserve your disapproval?
Re: Exposing Liberal Hypocrisy and Conservative Close-Mindedness
What do you think Van Jones calls a communist?
I'll let your own curiosity lead you.
But you do sound like communism is something to be ashamed of.
Re: Exposing Liberal Hypocrisy and Conservative Close-Mindedness
I haven't seen him use the term, so I have no idea.
What have I said that makes you think so?
Re: Exposing Liberal Hypocrisy and Conservative Close-Mindedness
Silly question.
My opinion is irrelevant, as is your opinion of my opinion, or my opinion of that.
Do your research, read for comprehension, and I can't think for you.
The question is, why would a Leftist communist want to help conservatives with advice?

Re: Exposing Liberal Hypocrisy and Conservative Close-Mindedness
Nor would I want you to. The question is, can you think for yourself? You opened by stating that:
As far as I can gather, you have simply taken this at face value. Fair enough; we all have sources that we trust, and yes our opinions are irrelevant, but at least mine are my own.
That is only a pertinent question if you can demonstrate that, even according to your own definition, Van Jones is a "Leftist communist".
