Yup, it's true and stands out clearly.

When governments invest taxes back in to the people then the people will logically be happier than if effectively treated as either chattel or vermin. Increasingly in the Anglosphere (and other places) people are increasingly being treated as mere resources (or inconveniences) in large corporation-dominated societies where governments represent the rights of corporations over the rights of individuals.

This is a systemic change, not just utilitarianism. The numbers of individuals that need to band together to out-lobby a corporation is far greater than the numbers of people associated with the corporation. For nations that have moved away from democratic socialism to largely untrammelled capitalism there is probably no way back now that corporations are ever more empowered by technology.

So what they mean is 'highest standard of living' and childishly and presumptuously used 'happiest' instead. How surprising

Your points are beyond valid. Yes, you are correct that individual predispositions along with other factors that were not included into the scope of context go a long way into determining each of our individual happiness indexes.

Having said that - What is your happiness index? What is your general, overall happiness score? Where do you live? Are you happy about that? What makes you happy? - Friends? Drugs? Sex? Money? What really gets to you?

Happiest Country - Finland - 10% convinced atheists

Second place - Norway 29% Avowed Atheists

3ed - Denmark 12% atheists

4th - Iceland 14% convinced atheists

5th - Switzerland 12% atheists

The World Happiness Report was released by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network for the United Nations on March 14, days before World Happiness Day on March 20.

The report ranks countries on six key variables that support well-being: income, freedom, trust, healthy life expectancy, social support and generosity.

6th - Netherlands 25% atheists

7th - Canada - 24% of Canadians declare no religious affiliation

8th - New Zealand 17% convinced atheists

9th - Sweden - Least religious country in the Western world

10th - Australia 30% - no religion

...so, there's that...

.
Yeah. Follow your own link, look up Japan. (54th place)
32% of Japan were "convinced atheists."
Then look up China (84th)
61% of the People's Republic of China were "convinced atheists."

Both of those handily beat "Sweden - Least religious country in the Western world"
If you wren't lazy and stupid you would have noticed that the word Western in there is a bit of a fucking giveaway.

*How happy are you?

Pretty damn, most of the time.

*To what extent is your country of residence supportive or responsible for your personal happiness?

Not one bit.

Okay. So, your country does not contribute to your happiness but your country does protect you. Your country does provide regulations so that you are able to use the internet. You can travel on government built highways. Eat regulated food products. Receive health care from government/board certified medical personal. The list goes on & I maintain that much of what your country's levels of government provides DOES contribute to your overall wellbeing & HAPPINESS.

We can disagree to some extent but your happiness - whatever degree of happiness, DOES, to a large extent, depends upon your government and will determine your possibility of overall happiness.

"So, your country does not contribute to your happiness"

No, it does not. In fact, more often than not, it gets in the way.

#

"your country does protect you"

Sometimes, in piss poor ways, whether I want it to or not, and -- always -- I pay too much for its attentions (too much in taxes, and too much in fending off well-intentioned 'controls').

#

"Your country does provide regulations so that you are able to use the internet"

What it should do is defend the infrastructure and nuthin' else.

#

"You can travel on government built highways"

Correction: taxpayer-funded highways.

#

"Eat regulated food products."

What it should do is ensure truth in advertising only. If Product X has rat dicks (or arsenic) in it, then the manufacturer must say so. Then let consumers decide for themselves if rat dicks (or arsenic) is sumthin' they wanna buy and eat.

#

"Receive health care from government/board certified medical personal."

Yeah, how many folks have died because of the incompetence of 'gov/board certfied professionals'? Go look at the stats, Bill, then tell me gov (any gov) is a bulwark for public heath.

#

"I maintain that much of what your country's levels of government provides DOES contribute to your overall wellbeing & HAPPINESS."

And I maintain that much of what gets foisted up on me (by gov) does NOT contribute to my well-being, to my autonomy, to my agenda...in short: my gov (as intrument of my country) is mostly a big friggin' pain in my ass.

What country do you live in?

Are you excited about cryptocurrencies & the change to the economic sovereignty that individual countries currently experience?

Are you looking forward to March 26th?

Bill, you forget to mention the heroin-rife tendencies in these same countries and a heroin-"hardness" that is stellar!

No, USA with its self-defence guns, guns that Defend the Faith, is the leader of the World in terms of happiness. Don't bother to look to Scandinavia where criminals are sent to hotels and their homes rather than to prisons! :!:

I've always seriously disputed the actuality of the World Happiness Report. Most of the countries on that list are also some of the highest in prescribed anti-depressant use. I realize there are a few different ways you could interpret that data that doesn't necessarily contradict this. There could either be a very large disparity between the people who are happy vs unhappy, the antidepressants are working, or something else along those lines. The suicide rate in many of these places like Denmark and New Zealand is also relatively high, not as high as the united states, but no where near the bottom countries. This would also seem to support the idea of a gaping disparity between the low and the high, under a certain glance.

Really I just question the legitimacy of asking someone how happy they are, which is where the WHR gets its main numbers. I'm sure people 'say' they're more happy than they actually are in japan, where depression is strongly looked down upon. I don't think any questionnaire about such a thing can ever be all that reliable, even when asking people about their own state of mind.

Ha, I'm looking forward to my alt portfolio actually being in the positive percentage growth again, in the year 2026.

But what happens on march 26th?

Crypto-currencies are not undermining national sovereignty. This is because such currencies will always have a very limited use for at least two main reasons: 1. No country will accept them for the payment of taxes. 2. No one really wants to set such things as their mortgage payments in terms of such currencies, whose values fluctuate far more than do most national currencies.
