What Is Spacetime Really Made Of?
What Is Spacetime Really Made Of?
What Is Spacetime Really Made Of?
Spacetime may emerge from a more fundamental reality. Figuring out how
could unlock the most urgent goal in physics—a quantum theory of gravity
Will we ever know the real nature of space and time?
Can we know the global structure of spacetime?
“How the hell could spacetime be the kind of thing that could be emergent?”
asks Eleanor Knox, a philosopher of physics at King’s College London.
THE FUTURE OF SPACE AT THE EDGE OF TIME
Modern physics is a victim of its own success. Because quantum physics and
general relativity are both so phenomenally accurate, quantum gravity is needed
only to describe extreme situations, when enormous masses are stuffed into
unfathomably tiny spaces. Those conditions exist in only a few places in nature,
such as the center of a black hole—and notably not in physics laboratories,
not even the largest and most powerful ones. It would take a particle accelerator
the size of a galaxy to directly test the behavior of nature under conditions where
quantum gravity reigns. This lack of direct experimental data is a large part of the
reason why scientists’ search for a theory of quantum gravity has been so long.

Re: What Is Spacetime Really Made Of?
What do the words 'spacetime' even mean or refer to, to you, EXACTLY?
When we hear this, then we can inform you of what so-called "spacetime" is made up of, EXACTLY.
WHY, EXACTLY, is a quantum theory of gravity a supposed URGENT goal in physics?
YES, WE ALREADY KNOW the REAL nature of 'space' and of 'time'.
We still wait for how you define 'spacetime', EXACTLY.
Because some one conjured up the word 'spacetime', then this in itself does NOT mean that 'spacetime' ACTUALLY EXISTS.socrat44 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 8:59 am “How the hell could spacetime be the kind of thing that could be emergent?”

The word 'unicorn' has been conjured up also, but does a 'unicorn' ACTUALLY EXIST?

Black Holes, Cosmic Collisions and the Rippling of Spacetime
By Katie Mack on June 12, 2017
People often ask me: “What is spacetime?
The easy answer is that it’s the "fabric of space.”

Re: What Is Spacetime Really Made Of?
LOL So, what 'space'(time) is is the 'fabric of itself' - space. Ah okay, that says about as much and as usual when 'things' are NOT YET KNOWN.socrat44 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 11:59 amBlack Holes, Cosmic Collisions and the Rippling of Spacetime

When the terms 'space' AND 'time' are defined CORRECTLY and ACCURATELY, then what is ACTUALLY the case becomes much more CLEARER.
See, the word 'time' refers to nothing more than just the duration between perceived events. I say, 'events' because in Reality there is NO more than just One event ONLY. While, the word 'space' just refers to the distance between, and/or around, matter.
Matter is allowed to move about freely because of 'space' (the distance between matter) and the label 'time' just refers to the motion of matter moving about freely.
This way of LOOKING AT and SEEING 'things' will help in explaining what 'it' is that is being sought here.

Re: What Is Spacetime Really Made Of?
It's not, "made of," anything. It is a fictional metaphorical way of, "picturing," certain physical phenomena which have no actual observable attributes (i.e. cannot be seen, heard, felt, smelled, or tasted) but are known indirectly by the behavior of that which can be observed and are described mathematically.

Re: What Is Spacetime Really Made Of?
Spacetime came about from an error Lorenz made and Winkowski fell for.
Neither space nor time can be seen. Matter exists in space and changes over time. Matter-change seems more appropriate. But read Newton and Einstein if you want answers.

Re: What Is Spacetime Really Made Of?
I am not sure this answers my question...
So what is cosmic vacuum made of?
What is matter made of?
What is everything made of?

When it comes to Swiss Cheese, I only eat the holes.

Re: What Is Spacetime Really Made Of?
Real physical space (vacuum) is a 4-D growing crystal of (meta) elementary (dual) particles… Real particles are more or less stable specific defects in its structure and antiparticles are corresponding complementary defects…
