By ultimate I mean becoming mainstream. And by mainstream, I mean by where at least half of the adult population becomes affected by the technology in an area at least the size of a country.
Could it be quantum supremacy where IBM and Google are in a race? Or autonomous cars? What about CRISPR? Graphene, the wonder material or other 2D materials? Extended reality (VR, AR and MR)? 5G?
My opinion is it'll be a certain type of internet in South Korea.

SIM cards will soon be replaced by eSIM. Might seem insignificant, but it has a large practical value.
