It seems you fail at your own game?
Nice try but let's try to get back on point. Was there talk of 2000 being the "end of the world?" Was it the end of the world? Sounds like both of us were there in 2000 to potentially listen to it. maybe you weren't paying as much attention. As I say there really isn't much for sane people to do other than watch some crazy Christians running around talking about the end coming. It's not the first time. Maybe it won't be the last time. Or maybe it will be the end of the world. Who knows? I'll grab the popcorn. You can grab whatever you want as long as it's not attached to me. We'll see what happens.
I remember hearing a lot of hype about the year 2000 being the "end of the world' and when it didn't happen, not much was said about it.

The only thing s/he has given us is chopped cabbage of which his/her brain seems to be composed.

I like good sauerkraut, especially the way my wife makes it, she uses just a little brown sugar to kill much of the sour, and leave the flavor of spoiled cabbage.
Lol! Yuck!
I suppose it depends what you get used to growing up, some things are an acquired taste, for example do you like Sardines?

I used to devour sardines as a kid. Still can't stand liver, though.

I do have perhaps odd tastes. For example, I like toasted peanut butter and tomato sandwiches.

I'm a bit surprised that I will try foods that I have never tasted before, when I was growing up my parents made a real effort to teach me to lie, I try to avoid it now. When something was served for a meal, we had to eat it, and then whether we liked it or not we had to say "It was good but I don't care for any more". If we were honest and said we didn't like it, we got a second helping, and weren't allowed to leave the table till we ate it. My mother cooked some things well but others she really spoiled, Brussels Sprouts was one, and liver she used to fry till it was as tough as shoe leather, but we still had to eat some. Now my wife only cooks it till it's cooked through and tender, and I like it.

Who said it was the end of the world?
It was 15 years ago, I wasn't taking notes because I viewed them as a bunch of loonies. But as I remember there were several religious groups whose leaders were announcing that it would be the end of the world. There were a few groups of people who had sold everything and were waiting on the top of a mountain somewhere.

I did find this,

Yes, thanks, I konw. Just that I wanted Gary to say it himself, that it seems he can't distinct the differennce between false prophets and the word of the bible.
..so what Gary says seems to be a bit random at best.

What do you want me to say? Are you suggesting that the predictions of 2000 were from "false prophets" but the predictions having to do with the Popes are not?

..........sigh!!!!!!!
The difference is that the bible is supposed to be the word of god, and false prophets are ...false prophets? ..very hard to understand!

That didn't answer my question. Are you suggesting that the predictions of 2000 being the end of the world were from false prophets but the predictions in your video you posted a while back concerning the Popes are not from false prophets?

Honestly, Hexhammer I'm not following what you are getting at. You posted a video having something to do with revelations corresponding to the current Popes and the Vatican. I really don't know how I'm supposed to respond to such videos. If what I say is "random at best" then it's because you don't seem to be making a coherent point anywhere. How else am I supposed to respond to what you've posted?

No YOU didn't answer MY question, WHO was these that predicted 2000 was the end of the world?

If you actually carefully watched the vid, you would see it fits the bill perfectly, which other interpretations has not fit the bill perfectly. Further the bible prophecy are backed up by the pope prophecy, about the last pope, Peter the Roman!

I don't remember their names. As Thedoc said, I wasn't taking notes at the time either. I remember some sort of late night show back in 1999 and it was a reverend and his wife on the show trying to match up scripture with current events saying that the world was coming to an end soon. I believe it may have been Jack van Impe.

What I'm really getting at, is that you provide some sort of scripture for the sake of comparison, where I claim that the prophecy fits the bill in that vid I linked, where other postulations doesn't at all, just shoehorned.

Some guy has a dream over a thousand years ago about 7 mountains, scarlet and purple and 7 kings and we're supposed to take it as an indication that this dream is validated because the Vatican is in Rome, a city on 7 hills, one set of clerics in the Vatican wears scarlet and the other purple and, as of today, there have been 7-8 Popes or whatever since the establishment of the Vatican as an independent state? coincidence maybe? As I stated earlier, if there is another Pope after Francis, then what? Are we supposed to run for the hills or build bunkers every time the number of 7 mountains, scarlet and purple and 7 leaders somehow coincide?

Both Rome and Istanbul are apparently known as cities on 7 hills. So if we count 7 kings from practically any significant date in the history of Rome or Istanbul, then we have our second correspondence. Now if any of those kings happen to wear scarlet and purple at some key ceremony or whatever we have our third correspondence. Oh dear! Revelation is true!

Contemporary cosmologist are pretty certain there will be an "end" to history and humanity. That part seems almost sure. Everyone on earth can pick a date for that end to occur. Then if one of those people who randomly picks a date for the end of the world is correct, then we can say that person was a prophet who predicted the end of the world. Good for them. They'll go down in history as a prophet. The only problem is that after doomsday there will be no one around to appreciate them for being a prophet.

That's how I see things. I'm not going to fret over it. I'm still agnostic.
