How discrete perception turns into continuous experience?

Is the mind the same as the body? What is consciousness? Can machines have it?

As it is stated ...

We shall not cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.

I'm not convinced of either premise. Is perception really discrete or is that just how we experience it? Is experience really continuous or is that just how we perceive it?

Conscious perception is not only analog, but conscious of all that is being seen, heard, felt, smelled, and tasted continuously and simultaneously. Consciousness is not a cinema.

bracketing is one thing...

We have two things perception which starts with the activation of the sensory system by the packet of lights. Then our nervous system sends the information in the form packet. Brain function is also discrete. The other thing that we have is the experience which is continuous.

As someone has said, some signals our sense organs receive might be continuous, but, the sense organs themselves seem to have a “refresh rate”. Because they send a signal once their detection levels goes above a certain threshold, there will likely also be some “cooling off” period before they can fire again, but, likely neighbouring nerve cells are firing at different times and rates to others, which might mean instead of getting all signals coming in at a synchronous “clock tick”, they might all be arriving at different times, meaning there might not be a time when there is no signal coming in at all. To this point, you could view all those signals as being “woven” together such that they are “bound” and therefore appear continuous. The same could be said for the receiving end, of perception.

That is just an idea.

Folks in the olden days used to have longer attention spans, spans so long they were continuous. Just imagine the attention span back in the really olden days that was required to consistently, accurately, and repeatedly (i.e. scientifically) transmit identical and detailed information before any form of writing existed.

lol, yes. But this:

"We have two things perception which starts with the activation of the sensory system by the packet of lights"

Reads like you must be having a stroke or something.
