the theology of meditation

Is the mind the same as the body? What is consciousness? Can machines have it?

the theology of meditation

Mindfulness is the opposite of what everyone calls mindfulness, which is active embodiment.

Empty mind is not a desirable state of mind, it is literally useless.

Meditation is attention control practice, regardless of method.

There is no practicing meditation. The practice is the meditation.

If these facts were understood by ordinary people, meditation could do a lot more good in the world but the terms are tossed about like salad, even, or perhaps especially, by those who "research" it. To misunderstand the connection between mind and ego/self is an existential problem. To misunderstand the difference between mind and attention is an existential problem. Meditation is always useful as a break from or contrast to ordinary experience, but usually doesn't work the way people think and isn't doing what they expect.

Yes. Attention control practice is helpful to everyone, best i can tell. Wisdom comes from perspective, and meditation also gives you perspective. If those points aren't helpful to someone then there's the relaxation aspect.

The purpose of emptying the mind is to avoid distraction and getting lost in ego driven thoughts, so as to keep one’s true nature always in mind.
