A solution to Libet puzzle

Is the mind the same as the body? What is consciousness? Can machines have it?

A solution to Libet puzzle

Post by bahman »

We can do one conscious act at any time. There are two time points in performing the Libet setup: (1) Time of decision and (2) time of conscious reading the time. Therefore we either do (1) then (2) or (2) then (1). If time of (1) then (2) is bigger than (2) then (1) then Libet problem is resolved.

I don't know who this Libet guy is, but if this is his biggest problem, I'd say he's pretty lucky.

Libet conducted an experiment, which, at the time, was touted as evidence free will is a fiction (despite the fact Libet himself never formally concluded such a thing and cautioned folks not to jump to that conclusion). In the years since: Libet's results have been questioned, doubted, and refuted (in part, by Libet himself).
