Thought is formed in subconscious mind. We are not aware of the processes in subconscious mind which turn into thoughts. We however experience the outcome, thought, by conscious mind. What is the purpose of conscious mind? Judging thought is sometimes needed and that needs that we make sense of thought in conscious mind. The thought then just leaves conscious mind and goes into subconscious mind, after encrypted, to produce another thought.

Agree with the above.

There is the subconscious mind [appx. 90% dominance] and the conscious mind [10% dominance] in terms of human activities.
In non-humans, animals act upon instincts and their subconscious mind.
Humans are evolved with greater capacity of a conscious mind to think, plan and making decisions from a greater range of alternatives.

This is critical in terms of more efficient survival strategies and being aware of a greater extent of threats to the individual[s] and the collective, i.e. humanity.
Non-humans animals cannot think of threats from global warming, rogue meteors, epidemics, and various potential catastrophe but humans can do that.
Humans can think of possible preventive methods and solutions to the above potential threats.
Non-humans animals cannot do the above.
Thus one critical purpose of the human conscious mind is to make humans aware of actual greater potential threats to their survival and individual and as a species.

Another critical aspect of thought as you stated is judgment and the most critical is the judgment, humans are mortals [empirically proven].
This feedback to the subconscious as a threat at the subliminal levels but fortunately it is suppressed at the conscious level.
But humans has to deal with this existential threat at the subconscious level which generated a very efficient solution to deal with this threat, which is the 'idea of God' [illusory] to promise eternal life or other forms of reliefs.

Unfortunate this theistic solution also trigger evil and violent thoughts in some theists at the subconscious level that drive SOME theists to commit terrible evil and violent acts upon non-believers.

Interesting. So you are saying that the idea of God is the result of conscious activity to the problem of mortality.

Yes, related to the concept and reality of mortality but the subliminal thoughts and process are very complex.
It is not related to a direct conscious fear of mortality, that would be a mental illness, i.e. thanatophobia.
