Re: I must just rust
My life is, was, and will always be a waste. And for whatever reason, I don't want it any other way . And that's more significant (the underlined part) for you to acknowledge than what anyone else has thought or said or done, or how bored or lonely or sad you are. You don't want it any other way. B...

Re: Simulation or Divine Reality Argument.
P1 : Increasingly intelligent life forms demand more energy as resources diminish (entropy increases). Which resources are diminishing and what makes you think that? The widely accepted laws of thermodynamics makes me think that. Basically, energy available to us humans (an intelligent lifeform) to...

Re: Technology: on balance is it good or bad
Luckily, the founder of this forum inserted the ignore feature. In a forum, the "ignore" option means that you will never receive any message from the ignored user... In nearly all forum exchanges, there is a back-and-forth that takes place, as people strive to correct misunderstandings o...

P2 : To sustain their existence, life must interface with a super-efficient state within a simulated world. Maybe intelligent life fo...

Re: Is morality objective or subjective?
... I enjoyed reading your insightful, good points! I think I can better see now, the kind of mindset that I.C. is operating from, which doesn't naturally occur to me (maybe) because it's so unnatural/contrived, and I can't imagine how someone could be so convinced of it. Isn't it interesting and f...

Re: Is philosophical enquiry a form of trolling
"age" IS the ONLY one, REALLY? Only obvious troll. Obvious is a key word in that sentence. Also, what IS OBVIOUSLY CLEAR here IS that the word 'troll' here MEANS VERY DIFFERENT 'things', TO DIFFERENT 'people'. I agree. I doubt you are a troll. However, if you are a troll, you are a very, ...

Re: "And I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse."
There are only three possibilities: Theism: "There is a God." Polytheism: "There are many gods." Atheism: "There is no gods or God." What you can see is that, whatever else may be true, two of the three have to be wrong . They have to. Because there is no other...

Re: Is morality objective or subjective?
Commitment is made to a relationship. You don't need to make a commitment to love... you just LOVE!
What kind of commitment do you think you need to make to anyone in order to love them? Women, men, children... can't you just love them?

Re: Is philosophical enquiry a form of trolling
Well, is it? Only when its an idiot such as Age trashing threads with pure drivel. Philosophical enquiry can be a form of trolling for some people. I agree that Age is the only obvious troll on this forum currently, often bombarding threads and posters with mountains of nonsense claims and question...

Re: Is morality objective or subjective?
Well we all know you would have a problem with unconditional love. I have no idea how you imagine that. I.C., do you know what unconditional love means? Do you know what the word "uncommitted" means? I'm responding to what you just said to Sculptor about 'unconditional love'. If you have ...

Re: Is morality objective or subjective?
Love without commitments. Love does not require any commitment. Quite the contrary. No, NOT 'quite the contrary' . Love can be combined with commitment, but neither commitment nor love requires the other. Relationship requires commitment. That's different than love. I disagree. We do have names for...

Re: Is morality objective or subjective?
Love without commitments. It's called "unconditional love". Contractual love is not for all of us. No, uncommitted love is actually the opposite of unconditional love. No, they're different... not opposite. Commitment is about relationship. That may or may not also involve love.

Re: Is morality objective or subjective?
You said the sexual revolution wasn't about 'more marriages', and it was never about love. I disagreed that it wasn't about love, and I said that love doesn't require contracts. Then you asked: "How's that working out for women these days?" What are you referring to? Love without commitme...
