Re: What Book Changed Your Mind?

The quote and the lyrics to Revolution (Beatles) have a similar message. Incorrect. Perhaps you merely glanced at the quote I posted. The association is understandable, but what Baudrillard is saying is that aesthetics is primary. Basically, what he is saying is that there will be no revolution, be...

Re: Got any good jokes?

Actually, come to think about it, it would have made more sense if the man were a boy and the wife his girlfriend... I'll have to retell it! :? A boy comes home to his girlfriend carrying a box of condoms with different flavours. He says to her, "Let's have some fun. We'll turn off the lights, ...

Re: Got any good jokes?

A man comes home to his wife carrying a box of condoms with different flavours. He says to her, "Let's have some fun. We'll turn off the lights, I'll put some on, and you have to guess what flavour it is." His wife agrees; they head into the bedroom; they undress; they turn off the lights....

"The blank, oppressive void facing the American consumer populace remains unfilled today, despite the recent launch of the revolutionary Swiffer dust-elimination system, sources reported Monday. The lightweight, easy-to-use Swiffer is the 275,894,973rd amazing new product to fail to fill the vo...

"You can say what you want about this country, and I love this place. I love the freedoms we used to have; I loved it when it didn’t take a f***in' catastrophe to get us to care for one another; I love the fact that we’re on camera all the time, from all angles. You can say what you want about ...

Re: Interesting insights about love.

Love begins when you move from liking someone because of to liking someone inspite of. "Everybody's in a shitty thing. That's what it's like to be with somebody: you're either alone, or you're in a shitty thing. That covers one hundred percent of human beings. I can see there's young couples h...

Re: Is proper spelling important?

What's the difference between a cat and a comma? One has claws at the end of its paws, the other's a pause at the end of a clause.
Grammar: the difference between knowing your shit, and knowing you're shit.

Re: Fodder 'n' Frivolities: a complaint against Spectacle Society

A great read! I can tell you put a lot of time, energy, and thought into this. And I'm glad you used the word "evil" at the end to describe this virtual reality that, similar to The Matrix film, gives us a pretty but false fiction to live in while the actual world had long been destroyed....

Re: the Sun is God

Basically, it's a complaint against Spectacle Society. The title, Fodder 'n' Frivolities, is a play on the Roman "bread and circuses." It deals with our addiction to superstimuli, artificial doubled stimuli, and how they are replacing natural stimuli. Instead of real adventure we now have ...
