Mediataion, Some Answers
I have seen here at and and many other places on the net too, that people are by and large confused about meditation. They neither know what exactly it is nor aware of its methodologies. They are also unaware of its physical and mental impacts. Besides that, i also found that these so called formal ...

Re: Knowledge can not be knowledge unless it helps humans.
There are three somewhat related but differtent things in this regard. Intelligence, knowledge and wisdom. Intelligence is how much anyone can learn. Knowledge is how much one has been learned so far. Wisdom is how one uses his intlligence and knowledge. A hacker will be no less intelligent and know...

Re: The duty of the brain is to provide inputs to the mind
With due respect to Hume and other philosophers, no other philosopher in the whole of human history has ever harmed mankind that much to what extent he did. With love, Sanjay how many millions of humans have died because of the utopia of marx? -Imp That is true But in the long context, which is nec...

Re: The duty of the brain is to provide inputs to the mind
The issue nedds more eloboration. As i said in the previous post that is is very easy to prove that mind is not only have different existance from brain but unlike brain it is a singular entity. Brain can do mulitasking but mind cannot. This may look surprising to many but it is true. And, all this ...

Re: The duty of the brain is to provide inputs to the mind
I have to say that bahman stance is correct. Mind is a different entity from brain and brain does not manifest it either. Brain is doing entity while mind obseves/feels that brain input data and redirect mind to act upon. to put in a more understablale terms, our body is hardware, Brain is a softwar...

Re: Government governs best when it governs least
In some senses the latter case does seem to describe our inner cities here in the US. It's very disturbing that the US has one of the highest incarceration rates of any country in the world. A significant portion of that can probably be contributed to the "war on drugs" That may be true, ...

Re: Government governs best when it governs least
Of course the phrase "only if that interference brings some betterment in one way or other," leaves the door open for interpretation as far as what active roles government is allowed to take in our lives in the name of "betterment" It certainly leaves the door open, and that sho...

Re: Government governs best when it governs least
Governs the least merely means interfere only when it is essential , or only if that interference brings some betterment in one way or other , otherwise keep away. Do not interfere just for the sake of interfering . It does not mean that govern the least, irrespective of what is happening out there ...

Re: Objective Morality
Just so you understand: we are pioneers in this subject. We're going to be utilitarian, which means: that thing is morally best (most good) which does the most amount of good for the most amount of people. We are going to measure goodness in terms of happiness. We are going to measure happiness on ...

I will try to read the other posts whenever I get the time.Jaded Sage wrote:You really should read the other posts. We're not talking about intelligence or education.
But, wisdom cannot be understood without taking intelligence and knowledge into account, besides intent/courage to implement.

Re: Objective Morality
Anyone ever entertained the idea of objective morality. By that I mean morality that can be measured. If we have enough information, we can predict outcomes. Suppose we could predict which actions have the best outcomes. What would that look like? Is such a thing even possible? Technically speaking...

Re: What is wisdom?
I remember that. Wanna know something cool? I had the idea that wisdom is confidence, then later read Plato and he also said wisdom is confidence. Confidence is merely one part of wisdom. It does not cover the whole spectrum. Let me share an old folklore to explain my point. In old times, two stude...

Re: What is wisdom?
I like that definition of wisdom: the use of intelligence and knowledge. I have heard another: Knowledge takes things apart. Wisdom puts things together. Now perfect but still indicating in the right direction. I still think there is much more too it. A great thinker one said, one cannot be wise wi...
