Re: What is the purpose of computers?

The first brain would have been a relatively small collection of glial cells, although all dynamic entities, living and nonliving, ultimately perform calculations. Remarkably accurate. According to the latest research, the first brain was developed upon the sense of sight. It saw a food or a predat...

Re: What is the purpose of computers?

And what is a human brain a reflection of? The simpler brains of other species. Simpler brains denote prior brains, so go back to the very first brain. Assuming there is such an idea as a prior past. What was the very first brain a reflection of? A Computer can never be (imprecise) for it wouldn't ...

Re: Who has more control of our thinking; God or Satan?

I see very little difference between other animals and human animals. What do you see, other than our intelligence, that is so different? We mostly have the same traits as the other higher forms of life. Regards DL Generally I'd agree that humans are very, very similar to other species, despite wha...

Re: Who has more control of our thinking; God or Satan?

What is Original Sin if not ignoring a stupid command to not gain the knowledge of all things? Regards DL According to some simple people a few thousand years ago. As I say, I think Original Sin is an analogy for human capacities that, not only bring us empowerment, but also suffering. The way I se...

Re: WHY DO YOU THINK WE ARE HERE? WHY DO WE EXIST?

Atto, you have to make piece with entry. As the Hindus noticed with the construction of the deity, Shiva, that destruction is needed for regeneration. Why are we here? Let's follow the breadcrumbs leading to us: - Star ignition and planet formation - Evolution of rocks and organic chemicals to state...

Re: Why humans can't get rid of their egos ?

I wonder if you are as capable of the same violence, or might you feel shattered afterwards because you could feel empathy with the victim/s? Clarity: I mean "same" as in "I have no reservations with taking life". So from an empirical/consequentialist perspective it's same same ...

Re: Why humans can't get rid of their egos ?

Yes, I personally find reason and science to be grounding. Even as a young adult I was nervous about ghosts and whatnot. The issue with ego is keeping it under control. The trouble with being proud is that, in a way the puffed up person taking the credit was not the same person who did those things...

The way things are going, I wonder for how long will people be needed for warfare or many jobs.

Realistically you can't keep increasing population forever - something's got to give.

Re: Why humans can't get rid of their egos ?

Yes, you generally don't hold a shield if you think there's nothing to fear. As things stand, there's plenty to fear in a complex, overcrowded and hyper-competitive society with rapidly changing rules and social mores, and rapid and rabid responses to faux pas. The irony of all ironies, of course, ...

Re: Who has more control of our thinking; God or Satan?

Ideally, the religious would question whether the gaining of knowledge is a sin. They might consider that in Adam and Eve the ancients were simply creating an allegory for the powers of humanity beyond that of other animals, and the price we pay for that awareness in suffering. this the Jewish view...
