Re: Poetry Bin
Infinity: My fractious mind frantically, frustrated, expresses ineloquently and eventually effervesces. No longer linguistically lucid I slowly slither silently to the iron iridescent irony of proclaiming palatable profundities while never grasping the godlike greatness of the inexpressible inelegan...

Re: Poetry Bin
I agree. And how damaging can it be if we only use a tenth of our brains, or something ridiculous. The tenth of a brain thing, I am fairly sure, is myth. Spot on!! The pain caused by the inability to act being the central point. The struggle of being faced with that intense but forbidden desire. Wo...

Re: Poetry Bin
But, a lot of these methodologies deteriorate brain function, even if they do provide insight I think the damage tends to be vastly exxagerated, and there are plenty of studies that have not found any significant harm done by entheogens. Examples of entheogens for which no significant harm has been...

Re: Poetry Bin
So why do you do it? It is my belief that the brain is an information system, and that in any information system the broader and deeper the information available will define the potential complexity, which is itself limited by the capacity to meaningfully link this information. I would never attrib...

I have tried sleep deprivation and fasting also.
Anything that alters the state of mind; inclusive of a good sandwich
Spinning on the spot works, after all the Sufis do it..

Re: Poetry Bin
I consider myself a psychonaut. I have experimented with psycho-active substances in the past, now my attentions are focusing more on meditative practices (a.k.a. the methodology whereby those substances are partook in by will alone). I never mind a question, if you don't mind that I may not answer :)

Re: Philosophy Now on Facebook
The vicariousness of modern life is in danger of so utterly swamping that which it reflects that it will be bereft of anything to imitate.
A television program that documents a person who sits on their couch all day watching that self-same program is only a decade away, at most.

Re: Poetry Bin
My pleasure. I am glad to hear that you had the inspiration for this poem. I got two new poems out of this whole thing, so, you know, every cloud... :P Lifelines at times of feeling cast at sea, to me, have been so very important. Unless what you want is to be swept away then they will be. As it is...

Re: Poetry Bin
I'm so sorry to hear of your situation. Thankyou Eliza . However my young friend I can certainly say that these are the defining moments that show us who we truly are. I agree, as I said to someone recently, it feels like the flames have burnt away all the crap and left the glowing hot iron frame o...

Architecture and Social Questions This is an incomplete preview of the relevant chapter. It seems I cannot find my copy of the book, as it is most likely one which I have lent out but not received back. Page 34 is where he begins his proposal, and I doubt it could be condensed further for summary. ...

Re: Poetry Bin
Not everyone can read all good books that are there. Please, share with the class all that you remember from Russell´s book. In a nutshell. In terms of his specific plan for housing all I can remember is that it involved a communal creché. His general thesis was that the purpose of increasing the p...
