Re: God and Evil

I am not saying ignore the law. What I am saying is don't let the law dictate how you think. That's what the corporation wants. Not you.

Re: God and Evil

Can a corporation control how you think? They believe that they can. They believe that they can MAKE you think about the law. The reason they do this is because they own the law. Don't allow them to control how you think. Think outside the law. That's how I am thinking.

Re: God and Evil

I checked. This is the real question: If God is such a nice guy, why is there so much misery and suffering in the world? I'll give you what mom told me: because they're living in sin. Apparently because I choose not to get married, etc, god turns his minion loose to kill all my: pets, trees, plants...

Re: Rights

What I'm saying is if no one will help you, help yourself but I am not saying I am a bully. Why would you put words in my mouth? You cannot be saying "I will not take my own counsel." and in spite of what odd things you do say, I won't say you do. Besides if I don't trust a group of peopl...

Re: God and Evil

jayjacobus: All the ideas on this thread are in the right direction, but the real practical question is "who will protect us from evil in real life". NOBODY is not a reasonable answer. Is this the real question? I shall have to visit the opening post to see if this is the question, or is ...

Re: Rights

So, if you, like ,me, don't trust the law, who do you trust? Trust your own authority but be fair. This is an interesting concept. "Trust your own authority". This means on one hand, that you have authority (which implies power over others), and if you only have authority over yourself, t...

Re: God and Evil

Londoner: Isaiah 45:7 " I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things." More usually 'calamity' or 'disaster' which makes more sense when contrasted with 'peace'. The problem is what has come to be associated with the term ‘evil’. Wha...

Re: Rights

By design the law in many cases is designed to protect a corporation. Is the law fair when it does? In a lot of cases it is fair but the court must determine when the corporation is using the law to defeat an individual and the individual should be granted an exception. Otherwise the corporporation...

Re: Rights

Even the judges on the Supreme Court can be unfair. Fairness is not a requirement for sitting on the Supreme Court.

Re: Rights

I( won't go to Fort Lee, VA because a judge is unfair. But the bigger problem for me is that I think that many judges are unfair.

Re: Rights

A judge hears one side of an argument and then hears the other. That's the only evidence. Can he decide which argument to accept?

But that's what judges do, in my experience.

Henry Quirk wrote: So, because 'free will' as uncaused is nonsensical, you reject your own on-going experience of being a self-director, yeah? I feel responsible for what I do. Re: Santa Claus & the Problem of Evil

In a court case between a corporation and an individual, neither party should be allowed an advantage based on their wealth. If one party has enormous wealth and the other party has little wealth, something should be done to equalize the disadvantages. But I don't know what.

Re: Rights

I've been to court 4 times (involuntary). Twice I agreed with the decision. Twice I didn't. Do the people of the US want a court that's wrong 50% of the time?
