Re: Whither Progress?: Is Progress an Insupportable Myth?

Re: The art of persuasion

If the idea is not rumor, she'll run as a progressive in 2020, but I would prefer her to start her own party with her own principles and stick to them come hell or high water in 2024.

Re: Creativity: The Pregnant Mind

Hobbes' Choice wrote
Creating a child is what rats, cats, and bats do without thought. This is not 'creativity'.

Re: Creativity: The Pregnant Mind

Those capable of creating do not psychoanalyze their output before presenting it. The creators are making the choice to bring "an idea" into the world, they need to be obligated to our world. Playtime is over. Self-awareness and world awareness are beautiful things. The creative types are...

Creativity: The Pregnant Mind

Re: How fast would you like a driverless car to go?

Yes, it was delightful at Disney World and then I grew up. The definition of a tech-tard is an individual who places the progress of technology over the well-being of humanity. Is this forum a haven for tech-tarded individuals?

Re: How fast would you like a driverless car to go?

Most biker's choose to be uninformed or clueless about safety protocols during motorcycling by not taking motorcycle safety classes. Wearing a helmet is the least of their worries, especially when they do not understand how to take care of a helmet, when to dispose of a helmet which is no longer eff...

Re: How fast would you like a driverless car to go?

It will become an all or nothing situation, where the manufacturers of technology such as automated cars will use their investors and lobbyists to push their agenda whether it is safe or no. Human error will be scrutinized directly, but not the human error in programming code, that will be concealed...

Greta,

Isn't ambition based on the fear of "keeping up with the Joneses?" I see ambition as proving one's worth...blindly.

Re: Unfit For The Future.

Why does fear underpin most of the actions taken by humanity? Elsewhere (different forum) I asked if Mankind is allergic to emotions which is what morality is hinged upon. Always seems that fear leads the way and it is the most insidious and despised emotion, yet Mankind surrenders to his fears all ...

Re: Utilitarianism and Altruism

Utilitarianism and Altruism Nobody does anything because they are Utilitarian. They use the Utilitarian method because they are Altruists. And they are Altruists largely because they have Empathy. The reason how, rather than why, empathy exists is not evident. The term 'God' does not advance the ca...
