Re: How important are women to philosophy?

A problem with women in philosophy, is that women often lacked education and stature in the old days, and could therefore easily end up having the ideas, but not the ability to write them down or be heard be honest people. From this fact one can easily assume that women could've played important par...

Re: Should people still be regarded as criminals under these circumstances?

You know how technology keeps progressing so let's say we have this scenario. We have a serial murderer who normally would be executed or punished for his crimes. Let's say that the people he killed can be restored back to life and that the restored people suffer no lingering effects from the murde...

Re: What is information?

It appears the basis for much philosophic investigation and debate is the concept of information. For example how much information do we need to decide? I think there is no one overall rule as each case may be different. What do you think? PhilX I actually have a beautiful and enlightening answer t...

Re: Overcoming boredom

Do you think the longer a person lives, the more likely that person can get bored at some point? Would the only solution then be to erase some memories to make life more interesting? PhilX I think boredom is more to do with disorientation in life. If you have a heading in life, you have something f...

Re: On women

Could you be a little more vague? You're kind of breaking the flow here. Okay, essentially I wanted to complain about feminists, discredit some of their oft cited "statistics" and then complain about how society treats men unfairly in a lot of ways many haven't thought about. And how men ...

Re: Is Platonic love the best kind of love?

The best friend you can have, is one which first and foremost cares about your immediate and future needs. If those are sexual in nature, meaning that you have a need to express yourself sexually, then you should also be able to provide those. The limitations of platonic love makes it appear kind an...

Re: What are concepts according to materialism?

The short answer to your text is "yes". Concepts, like anything else, refer to things in the real world, and the mechanic by which they do this is what makes them physical. As the brain stores, records and reacts against itself, its environment and the world at large, a part of that reacti...

Re: Is Hegel Still Relevant?

As to your title question. Hegel is a man that first and foremost today offers you a perspective. I've engaged with a lot of Hegel lately in the last few months through an intensely detailed YouTube series by an American professor following him paragraph by paragraph in The Phenomenology of Spirit. ...

and Popper blamed him for the rise of totalitarianism. Do you happen to know how on Earth Popper came to that belief? I mean, does Hegel directly empower a totalitarian ideal in any way? There are loads of refs to this which you'll find if you Google "Hegel Popper". Singer, at http://www....

Re: Trying out before committing

Wasting 6 months on "trying out" seems heavily unsatisfactory in both cases. You'll have to make up a certainty about yourself that is sufficient for you to actually do the stuff you are about to commit yourself to, and trying it out is not something people have the time for. Either you're...

I doubt she found amusement. More likely she's some kind of emotionally unbalanced person who who suddenly got the angst when it was time to show what it's about.

May be a chance she forgot it in the original post as well only to be to cowardly to continue.
