Re: FactCheck Ch4 News: separating political fact from fiction

You are not being rational. Put your ideology aside for a moment and think. Which scenario do you think would be more likely to have more gun violence. A country where guns are legal or a country where guns are illegal? Obviously, common sense will tell you that a country where guns are not legal w...

...for I am what I am, I want to be what I am
That's fine, but what are you? What is a human being? What is your "self"? Is it real, or merely a mental construct with which you identify?

Re: FactCheck Ch4 News: separating political fact from fiction

There are too many variables for numbers to mean anything. No one ever stops to think that the more guns at school means more chances of some nut going on a shooting spree. Re: Pope Francis seeking to unite faith and reason

It's not the first time a pope made the attempt. Pope John Paul II made the attempt with Fides et Ratio in 1998. In any event, I am unaware of any reason why it should be thought faith and reason are incompatible.

Re: Solving the Major Problems of Society

Albert Einstein said, “We can not solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them.” I do not think he was wrong. All the steps listed in the first post reflect same level of thinking that created the problems in the first place. Relying on them to the exclusion of other ways of ...

Re: What is, and how to find, Truth?

Quoted from my book "Humane Physics": Truth is an observation or a plausible theory that has not [yet] been contradicted by the accumulated knowledge available to us. The very instant an irrefutable contradiction is demonstrated, the theory becomes false and needs to be modified or discar...

Hello

I love philosophy. My particular areas of interest are theology and metaphysics. All other philosophies are, to me, relatively inconsequential because in my experience all other philosophies flow from these these two.
