Re: Mysticism vs. Mathematics

This is a topic which I have posted in other forums, with a notable lack of significant critical response. Most people would conclude that their exposition is lacking, and would work to improve it. So I try my luck here. You, on the other hand, choose to just post it again, hoping for a different r...

Re: The Meaning of the Number System ("quantity" is incorrect)

This theory shows how all of mathematics is incorrect. That makes you a garden variety crank. But without my having to watch you sit silently in front of a webcam for two hours, can you just give a simple example of a piece of math that you've proven incorrect? And please provide the proof. If &quo...

Re: The Meaning of the Number System ("quantity" is incorrect)

I'm free of suffering and sit around in bliss all day. That's it? You sit around in bliss all day? So does a fentanyl addict on skid row. What kind of life is that? Any more advice? Yes. Have you considered posting to the Metaphysics forum? Your posts would be more appropriate there. Your content h...

Re: Gambler's Fallacy Revisited

So how do you explain the fact that, given a sufficiently large sample, the mean tends to approach closer and closer to a true average? alan1000, you may find this to be of interest. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_large_numbers In probability theory, the law of large numbers (LLN) is a theore...

What's weird is the number of quantum physicists with four-letter names starting with B. Bohr, Born, Bohm. Proves we live in a simulation.

It's not well known, but Bertrand Russell had lifelong problems with his feet and his teeth. Wherever he traveled, he was always accompanied by his podiatrist and his dentist. People would say, Here comes Russell with his pair o' docs. His biographer mis-transcribed this to Russell's paradox, and th...

Re: The Countable (Dedekind) Reals

It's not particularly surprising. The inequality relation is undecidable for infinite precision reals. x < y doesn't halt for x=0, y = 0.0000.... (maybe a non-0). That's because the blank tape (can a Turing machine determine that all of the cells are blank?) problem reduces to the halting problem. ...
