Re: Epistemology, Propositions
Thanks for the heads-up. But I, for one, would be grateful for your summary (un-glib) answer to the question: 'What is knowledge and what does it mean to know something?' If the question lies at the root of philosophy, and you've answered it, we can all move on. First off, when the question is answ...

Re: Epistemology, Propositions
programming a computer is done by sequencing on and off switches (binary codes) in various combinations. but I agree, the question about the nature of knowledge might be more complex... then again... -Imp But then how does one set the binary switches to create a word processing program? And perhaps...

Re: Epistemology, Propositions
Suppose you tell me! I'd really appreciate your doing so. . OK so the question is : "What is knowledge and what does it mean to know something?' I am not going to attempt any glib answer to that question, for it really lies at the root of philosophy. But it is an area on which I have done cons...

What a ridiculous idea! Where did you get it from? Did your read it in a book or perhaps a fortune cookie?RCSaunders wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 2:59 pm
All knowledge is propositional. All we know is in the form of propositions.
Have you any idea what knowledge is or what it means to know something?

Re: Kant
Kant's Categorical Imperatives [CIs] are ideals [Pure] and not meant to be applied to the real world So why try to apply them to the real world then? And if they are ideals...for whom or what are they 'ideal'? If they merely demonstrate a certain degree of internal consistency but no connection to ...

Re: Kant
It is an exact and accurate factual statement. As for the content - Millions disagree with you, most of them likely to have a lot more intelligence than your saintly self. For myself and many others Kant is one of the greatest philosophers of all time. And I refer you back to the statement about ot...

Re: Kant
Since the CofPR, written by Kant, is not a book of facts, but an argument, then it is a necessary conclusion that Kant, above all others, DID know what he is talking about. That is not even an argument. Its just nonsense, Kantian nonsense if you like. It is an exact and accurate factual statement. ...

Re: Happiness is our only purpose
I'd like to share to you my best philosophy packet. It has the best, supporting arguments for my philosophy. There's a discussion section as well, which addresses the objections others have to my philosophy. There are 3 parts to this, and I'll give you the Deviant Art links to them. If you decide t...

Re: Bigotry and Genocide
August 26, 2019 Bigotry or intolerance in all its forms is an extremely serious and crippling disease of individuals and the masses. Affected people suffering from this degenerate mental condition belong to a majority of the world population which could be called the "inhuman race" -- i.e...

Re: That which is chaotic cannot be known.
I believe that we, the human race, have been mistaken in our quest for money and power. Those two are the mirages of success. We cannot be successful in any endeavor of which we cannot know the outcome. It might just vanish tomorrow. The only way to know the outcome ahead of time is for there to be...

Re: Philosophy is created by belief!
For myself I tend to never use "belief" since that can be used to state sure knowledge and faith based assertions; this makes the meaning of the word ambiguous. All words are inherently ambiguous, including these. It is why trying to make a rigorous philosophy that resides in the domain o...
