Re: The Problem of Nominality or "proper names"

Oh. Well, that's clear as mud. As you were.

Re: Is God in hiding?

Question 2. Who's he got to hide from?

Re: Is Eve a good example of women being curious?

Gen 2: 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
That suggest he didn't want them to know.

Re: Is Eve a good example of women being curious?

Where does the Eden story say anything about " free will "? That simply wasn't an issue for the Sumerians. The original story-tellers assumed choice and limits. In one version, the pair of humans is kept as pets, protected and provided-for and expected to obey the rule: Don't touch those t...

Re: Is Eve a good example of women being curious?

In the Sumerian belief system, there was a little clan of gods, but they were not so puffed-up as Big Omni of the modern fundamentalists. The translators and editors were a little sloppy in replacing the old gods with the new one. Knowledge is only the start of the Human Problem. There was another f...

Re: Why so much Bible repetition?

Except that most of the bible is not messages, they're stories. Of course, all prophets and reformers harangue their listeners about similar sins (the things people keep doing over and over) and warning them of dire punishments (which also don't change much over time and religions). But most of it i...

Re: Why so much Bible repetition?

It was cobbled together by a committee of Latin-speaking Catholic bishops, with their own political agenda, from disparate parchments of various age and origin, most of them re-translated from ancient to modern languages. Also, looking at television now, you wouldn't be surprised if some story lines...

Re: Is Eve a good example of women being curious?

...... So, right away we have the writers warning everyone against exploring the real world for answers not found in the so-called Divine Word. Way to go. Knowledge is power indeed. Indeed: "G3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be ...

Re: What is your opinion on Wealth disparities?

What's with the biblical quotes? Is it about disparity (which is a very big deal) or Christianity (which is irrelevant, given that Christians very obviously and traditionally don't care about disparity)?

Re: The Problem of Nominality or "proper names"

To designate a system by the proper name of its progenitor is to reinstate a nominal history that has never quite belonged to nominality. You can't re -instate something until after it's been enstated and deposed. Designating a system by the name of its progenitor is Phase 1. Demonstrate Phases 2 a...

Re: Is Eve a good example of women being curious?

Women's curiosity is also exemplified in the Pandora myth. Very odd, really, deciding that's a negative trait for which females should be punished, and then, a millennium or so later, barring those same over-inquisitive females from the practice of science. Really, the bible story is about the start...

Re: Do you favor political correctness?

Nothing special about it. A society where people swear at, defame, insult and offend one another names is a dysfunctional society. *
