Re: marxism: if it were the 'real' deal
That was you just assuming all the free folk in your imaginary town all think and do exactly as you think and do. Not exactly , no; similar , yes. So ... not exactly conformists, but similar to conformists in that they all make exactly the same choice in some hypothetical situation that you would.....

Re: Libertarianism in practice
At the spot nearest the border they use their plot of land to build and operate a meth lab that generates large profits from drug tourists who aren't breaking any rules as long as they don't do anything to any property. Meth kills, meth makers are killers: assumin' they got that far, they'd be hung...

Re: marxism: if it were the 'real' deal
Where, dear, pro, did I ask for anyone's idea of utopia or worker's paradise? All I'm askin' for: a picture of a working Marxist community, society, nation if the citizens, workers, etc. got it right. Ain't no one stepped up yet: which is peculiar in a place with so many willin' to defend marxist t...

Re: Libertarianism in practice
What say have you got in who other persons sell their property to? The opening asks for a picture of a working Libertarian community, not one just startin' out. The minarchy I'm describin' is seasoned, been thru it's start up period. Only folks livin' it are folks, well, like me . Ain't no differen...

Mannie,
I'm glad the LARPer has you to debate theory with.
I thought he had promise, but *sigh* no, he doesn't.

Two questions, drawn straight from the thread title...
Does a pregnant woman carry a human being/person or just 'life'/meat?

Which God?

Re: marxism: if it were the 'real' deal
I'm told all the world's communisms and socialisms (past and present), aren't the real deal . I'm told Marx would spin like a top in his grave if he could see how his ideas have been twisted, misinterpreted, etc. Fine. Tell me how Marxism is supposed to work: paint me a picture of a working Marxist...

Re: Libertarianism in practice
A large group of people with lots of money move into a small town and buy several plots of land. Why would anybody sell to these folks? I'm a property owner: I ain't sellin' 'em nuthin'. They have now met the only standard of citizenship that I can imagine you are able to support? Buyin' citizenshi...

Re: Libertarianism in practice
I am saying that your's can't because you have created a recipe for a capricious legal system. It would be simple, robust, and largely incorruptible. Complex business entities have complex procurement arrangements with other complex entities Only reason any of it is complex is cuz somebody is looki...

Re: How Do We See?
The world exists, exists independent of us, and is apprehended by us as it is (*not in its entirety but as it is ). We **apprehend it directly, without the aid of, or intervention of, [insert hypothetical whatsis] and without constructing a model or representation of the world somewhere in our head...

Re: Got any good jokes?
We used to do that hokey pokey shit on roller skates when I wuz in elementary school. Talk about a law suit waiting to happen. in the old days: we could endanger ourselves with abandon on the playground, in the park, etc....if we survived (which we did) we were better for the bruises, black eyes, l...
