Re: Aaarggghh!

He's slipped back into the quiet uncharted space between the worlds. He reckoned 10 years was enough and decided to hang up his chiton. :(

He did say he might pop back for the occasional guest appearance, though. :)

Happy to say that the new issue is out now! The theme is The Human Condition, and we have articles on happiness, laughter, coolness and addiction, among other things. The issue is just being dispatched to subscribers at the moment, but it up on our website already: http://philosophynow.org Hope you ...

Re: Suggestions Box

I can't recall if PN has done an issue on the philosophy of history . Some think of history as a science. Is history dialectical and have meaning? I think the subject could make an interesting issue. I am trying to imagine a cover for it; perhaps one illustrating a number of historical events. Ther...

Re: Philosphy Now with Issue 79

Thanks - I'm glad you like Issue 79! One of the articles from it - by Emrys Westacott, on whether being under surveillance can make you a morally better person - has been picked up by quite a few bloggers already. Here it is: http://philosophynow.org/issue79/79westacott.htm Been getting the most com...

Re: Atlas Shrugged

Whether or not you agree with her political, philosophical and economic ideas, Atlas Shrugged is a rattling good read. Ayn Rand is an excellent storyteller, except : (a) Her characters in this book are rather transparently just tools to illustrate her ideas. The ones who agree with her ideas are all...

Re: Suggestions Box

Thanks for those suggestions. The paperless subscription one is something several people have asked for recently. Recurring billing for subscriptions is quite tricky to set up, though not impossible.

I'll discuss this with Bora (our webmaster) and report back.

Re: new york

In fact our Science Columnist, Prof. Massimo Pigliucci, already runs a big Meetup group in New York City for Philosophy Now readers. They are really active:

Re: Philosophy Now on Facebook

According to Yahoo SiteExplorer, http://forum.philosophynow.org has only 80 incoming links. If you can boost that link count, you might be able to get up in to the top three search results, which could possibly significantly increase traffic from folks who are actually searching for what you have t...

Re: Not a Conspirator

Seriously, I'm a poet. Just a very bad one. Who doesn't rhyme. And may have killed Caesar...wait...what? If you killed somebody, but they were a dictator, would that still make you a cinna? As you may know, there is a famous pun on the word 'sin' in histories of 19th century India. The British gene...

Re: Philosophy Now on Facebook

Well, I think Facebook is a good alternative to this forum, which has gotten tired. Perhaps the paralleling of each other will goose things up, maybe. Maybe on Facebook we will have an opportunity to talk to some of PN's authors about their articles. I don't think Facebook will ever replace this fo...
