An altruist would never bother with trying to justify his position by relying on a utilitarian calculation. The two viewpoints are not the same.

I'm not sure what it even means to voice the opinion that "we are at war with Islam." What would it mean to "win" such a "war"? Would every Muslim who is alive have to be killed in order for us to win such a war? Would we have to force every Muslim to convert to another...
