Re: Why things evolve?

If you experience things, and you are human with a normal functioning human body and you read and learn from people who describe their experiences to you when you cannot read and learn from them, you understand that other people have experiences too. All presumption on your part. If I told you I wa...

Re: Why things evolve?

I'm not asking you what science is or what the scientific method is. I asked you a question you didn't actually answer. What if your gut tells you that science justifies some statement? Do you go with your gut in that case or not? I "go with my gut" in a more general way, just like you do...

Re: What is the use of self?

That was an interesting talk. Now, I think we can divide our activities to two separate parts: (1) Those which need the sense of self (activities which we do consciously) and (2) those which do not need a sense of self (activities which we do subconsciously). It was an interesting talk, the woman i...

Re: What is the use of self?

I think the woman in question still experiences her environment even when she loses her sense of self. Absolutely, but she cannot comprehend what she experienced because there is no reference frame except for the fact that it 'felt' beautiful and wonderful since all stress was gone (which I believe...

Re: What is the use of self?

You do lots of activity without using self. I think the only activity that make the self (consciousness) important is when we learn something. My God, man, you wouldn't be able to move without the concept of self. What reference frame would you use? To get to point B from point A, you need to know ...

Re: What is the use of self?

We know that any system is functional if it does X by receiving Y, where X is a set of actions (output) and Y is a set of stimulus (input). The question is what is the use of self if the system, human for example, can function without it? Because it cannot. You either simply refuse to see the glari...

Re: Is there a State of Everlasting Bliss?

Where is suffering without consciousness, Lacewing? Consciousness is a doorway to ALL KINDS OF THINGS. You are choosing to focus on one area (some idea of "suffering") and make it a big deal. Then you're blaming the doorway of consciousness for that. Take responsibility for your selective...

Re: will we live again?

Well, from the sound of it, your math is far better than mine, so for now, I will just take your word for it. :D. I have decided to call it "maths" from now on, at least in the forums. See the thread in the philosophy of language section. It hurts to say it, but I was moved by a reasonabl...

Re: will we live again?

How can the probability of another one universe like ours be infinity/ infinity? It would be 1/infinity=0. If the probability of a single universe exactly like ours is 0, how can there be an infinity of universes like ours. First of all I think we're talking type-2 inflation bubbles as 'a universe'...

Re: will we live again?

I completely agree , IF we talk about anything that is finite.. however, even with the extreme low chance that every atom come in the same absolute repetition, however if infinity exists, then what makes it impossible to create same exact universe as ours, thus make our existence repetitive? Why do...

Re: will we live again?

But I wasn't talking about just my copy. My copy and the life it has to be exactly the same would require every single event from the beginning of that particular universe up to and including the end of my life to follow the exact same pattern. I don't think the number you quoted would be correct. ...
