Re: Rorty - No Mind-Independent Reality
I have no interest in ANY question about mind independent reality. I have told you this enough times over enough years that I consider it a misunderstanding to to take the question seriously at all. Learn to read and undestand other people's words please. This is getting to be an emergency for you....

Re: Christianity as Philosophy
'Christian' applies to many sects based on one supernatural story for its foundation myth. You really need to specify whether or not you refer to orthodox Christianity or one of the less powerful sects. You also need to specify whether and to what extent ,the demographic you want to discuss , is 'Ch...

Re: So you STILL think that AI understands what it types??
Last month I had an ischemic stroke and I can well remember periods when I could not speak and my thinking was splintered into shards that did not fit together. during periods when I was actively aware I tried hard to set in order my ideas of experiences that I remembered. My ideas sorted themselve...

Re: PH's Stupidity: The "Mind" Does not Exist as Real
Yes, I talk about having dreams and memories - and about the difference between objectivity and subjectivity. But so what? Are you suggesting that such talk is or must be about non-physical things? And if so, why? Wow, back to May. Well, I don't remember my exact thoughts or direction. But I wasn't...

You can find differences between any two categories(or any two entities) but what matters is what the difference you found signifies morally or practically.

Re: Science is Based on Faith like Theism?
Insofar as scientists base investigations on a theory of reality/truth(e.g. such as the primacy of human reason) then science is " based on faith". However theism goes further and presupposes not only reason but also supernatural authority.

Re: Liminal places
There are some actual liminal places that I love. One of those is the moment before I step into a small boat so small I can feel it move to displace water beneath me. Maia wrote In so many ways we seem to care more about boundaries than the actual things they enclose. From my own feelings this is u...

Chaz Bufe Reasons to Abandon Christianity Christianity has a morbid, unhealthy preoccupation with sex. For centuries, Christianity has had an exceptionally unhealthy fixation on sex, to the exclusion of almost everything else (except power, money, and the infliction of cruelty). This stems from the...

Re: what are we seeking?
Abstract values such as justice, goodness, truth, and beauty are part of what humans do to try to predict the future for themselves. Morality is abstract virtues made explicit and codified. The difference between men and other animals is men sometimes think in abstract values while (as far as we kno...
