Re: Has Britain Become a Territory?

Gaffo, I definitely think you should write your posting up as a full-length article and send it to The Guardian newspaper. They would almost certainly publish it and it shows greater insight and analysis than most of their Brexit coverage.

Re: Those Who Justify Genocide

As Wikipedia has it, the human sex ratio in the Arabian Peninsula is within the normal/natural range at 1.05. The gender imbalance in the Arabian peninsula has absolutely nothing to do with infanticide. If you had taken seriously my previous advice to you of studying seriously, you would have known...

Re: Issue 138?

Hi guys Hope you like Issue 138. For those who haven't seen it yet, it has a theme of religion, secularism and society. It also has three articles relating if different ways to the pandemic. (One on Camus's famous novel "The Plague", one on Thoreau and social distancing, and Ray Tallis's column this...

Re: Happy Birthday America

It is probably a really good idea for all of us British to read more now about the US Constitutional Convention of 1787, and about the kinds of things that were asked and said within it. The British constitution - which has developed organically over centuries, sometimes changing gradually, sometime...

Yep. Sorry folks, I got the settings wrong when I created this sub-forum, hence the "you have insufficient permissions" message some of you have been seeing when trying to post here. Many thanks to Henry for pointing this out so I could fix it.

Re: Coronavirus Craziness

In hindsight wouldn't it have been cheaper and less economically damaging to have told all sixties and overs to totally isolate themselves right at the beginning until the virus had passed through the rest of the population. That's about 20% of the population who would have to register with the sta...

Re: Philosophy Now Forum Suggestions Box

Rick - the forum prior to the big change once had a GMT clock - time. I really miss that, and I am sure many that are not in the UK also do, any chance we can get that back? So far as I know, that isn't something we can control from the forum settings. But my postings turn up with a time that is GM...

Re: A Feminist Interview with Friedrich Nietzsche

Do you mean Lou Salomé? Sounds like a fascinating woman, who had friendships with everyone who was anyone in intellectual circles at the time, including Freud and Rilke as well as Nietzsche. I think she was a psychoanalyst - maybe she was collecting material? :D I don't know if she was a feminist - ...
