Re: What age are we in?
500 years from now, in the year 2518, what do you think they will call our age? The 19th to the 21st century (give or take)? The electric age? The technological age? The computer age? The nuclear age? Or will they extend the medieval age to the 21st? How about the "Age of Stupidity", I ca...

Re: What happens at the exact center?
From a physical perspective, it does not make sense of course, but the mathematical concept is crystal clear. I agree that as a mathematical concept it is true, but that doesn't make it true for a physical perspective. There is no such thing as a dimensionless point in the physical world, only in m...

Re: What happens at the exact center?
Why do you say the exact center point is rotating? Movement means changing your location over time (r x t = d). Since I contend the exact center isn't moving, then its orientation remains the same. 🇺🇸PhilX🇺🇸 The center point is changing it's orientation 360 degrees with each rotation of the record....

Re: What happens at the exact center?
The center point might not be moving relative to the rest of the record but it is still rotating which is a kind of movement. How do you define movement, is it always changing your location in space, or can it be just changing your orientation in the same location? Why do you say the exact center p...

Re: What happens at the exact center?
That was not very practical for you to state that... Where the metaphysics which inevitably led to the scientific method not practical if they led to what was practical? Scientific discoveries are made by those who look at the way the world is, not by those who imagine how they would like it to be....

Interesting philosophical discussion but unfortunately it has nothing to do with reality and practical matters. That was not very practical for you to state that... Re: What happens at the exact center?
Say we have a record player with a record spindle. You can play a 12-inch record on it by putting the spindle through the hole at the center of the record. The record, with the spindle, then rotates at a certain speed when the record plays. Say you're five inches from the center. Then that point mo...

Re: Does obsolescence spur scientific advance?
I don't think it is so much than for the very curiosity and a kind of preparation by information serendipity! You feel inspired by something, you get hunches for stuff to investigate and, hurray, you may have found something that you can call science or technology or so! 8) PhilX, I see what you me...

Re: Can you honestly say the universe has no center?
Think carefully. 🇺🇸PhilX🇺🇸 It depends on how you define "center". One scientist has claimed that everywhere is the center because everything started from a point and expanded from there. I don't agree and I think that if we knew the extent of the universe we could determine where the cent...

Re: Does obsolescence spur scientific advance?
I believe it does. For example I was told that tvs last for over ten years. If you have no urge to replace the tv, then manufacturers and research scientists will have less incentive to develop better tvs. What if the obsolescence period were five years or fifteen years? What would happen then? How...

Re: What is gravity?
The force of gravity is slightly stronger at night than during the day but the increase and decrease is negligible, the moon has stronger effect but it is also very small. https://www.quora.com/Is-gravity-stronger-during-nighttime?utm_medium=organic&utm_source=google_rich_qa&utm_campaign=go...

Re: What is gravity?
how is your view on gravity the only logical explanation? If gravity was space curving, we would weigh more at night, and less during the day, because the suns gravity would counteract the earths at daytime, and increase it at nigthtime. But if it is a local matter (particle based), the suns partic...
