Re: what about Ether?
The "luminiferous aether", which is what those links refer to, was thoroughly disproved by the Michelson-Morley experiment, and all experiments since then have only reinforced Einstein's theories and obsoleted ether theories. Why do you think we should bring it back? The original calculati...

Re: Does the Church have the right to discriminate over and abo
I took a cruise the other day and they had a chapter of 'Friends of Dorothy' on board. It is quite common now to have these gay gatherings on cruise ships. This tells me that being gay is openly accepted everywhere and is generally no big deal. Cool, you should go to Iran and try to hook up with so...

Re: The beginning: where is it ?
Let us say that quantum of light is an abstract particle The 'quantum' isn't a particle, it's more like a measure or amount, in the same way that 'ounce' and 'gram' are amounts of weight; 'mile' and 'inch' are amounts of distance; 'litre' and 'gallon' are amounts of volume. The word 'quantum' is us...

Re: Hawking - philosophy is dead
At the bottom of page 1, chaz wyman writes, "Atheists are Skeptics par excellence." Certainly, atheists are skeptics concerning the claims of theists. A more extreme skeptic is illustrated below: Theist: God exists. Atheist: God does not exist. Skeptic: Who or what are you saying is God? ...

Re: Bending light by electro-magnetism!
Light is electromagnetic radiation. A photon is the "quantum" of electromagnetism... It "is" electromagnetism, so it's improper to say that it is "affected by" electromagnetism. The electromagnetic field only affects charged particles; and photons do not have a charge, ...

Re: Is the Universe rotating???
I take your point, but `i still have reservation that i'm finding it hard on philosophical grounds to reconcile. Maybe i'll get back to you. Well it turns out you were right to doubt me! ;) I did some more internet-searching and it seems I'm not exactly right about rotation. Like I said, we can't t...

Re: Is the Universe rotating???
Surely for each instance of rotational velocity, each objet is on a vector which is tangential to the rotation, thus, as each tangent is linear to the observer, then such universal rotation is null and void. At any given instant of time, the object is on a straight vector, and you're right that the...

Re: Is the Universe rotating???
Seems like a strange question , but I think it would answer the question of whether time began with the big bang or not . If the Universe is rotating , this would suggest that there were forces at play before the bang , forces like we see today , planets suns stars,,they all seem to be rotating,,so...
