Re: why computers can't be conscious

I challenge anyone to prove me wrong.
If you act that way we should treat you that way, but it's clearly not th...

the sadism of suicide prevention

People often want to kill themselves because of the intervention of the state/society in their lives, and yet the state/society additively interferes with attempts to die. There is no clearer example of sadistic evil.

why computers can't be conscious

Because the kind of thing consciousness is, is biological. You can't be replicated in a computer because the way you change isn't the way a computer changes, and a computer can't be conscious because the kind of thing consciousness is, is rooted in how brains change. Whatever version of self-awarene...

the illusion of illusion

A mirage is not necessarily an illusion. Although it may seem to someone who doesn't understand light and heat and air that there is a floating object, an experienced dessert dweller will simply say that there is something over the horizon. Although both subjects are experiencing the same light sour...

Re:ality? in other words...

It's easy to shave off the word Actuality to represent the transcendent version of isness because it literally already means that. What's left is to distinguish between individual and shared understandings of isness. Because internal representations are only externally useful when they're externally...
There are cause and effect. Cause and effect cannot lay at the same point since there was no need for cause if the effect was in place. So the effect comes after the cause, otherwise is absurd. The question is how long does it take to reach...
