Re: 65000 POSTS A DAY

Not sure what was going on there. Substance abuse, as he said himself? He could have been joking, but maybe not. Anyway, he has been perma-banned.

Never a dull moment, is there?

Re: Philosophy Now - Electronic Editions

Amazon made a decision some months back that they would no longer sell magazine subscriptions. Therefore they no longer sell print magazines and they also no longer sell subscriptions to individual magazines on Kindle. Instead, they offer something called Kindle Unlimited, where you pay a flat month...

Re: Philosophy videos

Hi Alex, sorry I only just spotted your post. When I started this thread, which was apparently sixteen years ago (!) I posted a link to a Philosophy Now page which had links to a load of philosophy videos we had spotted on YouTube. The links page has since moved. It is now here: https://philosophyno...

Re: Philosophy Now magazine Suggestions Box

Thanks. I think Greylorn Ell's idea was pretty cool, actually. I would have liked a cup of tea with the great Roger Penrose and am sorry I haven't managed to organise that. Our current Editor, Grant, spends a lot of his time in Oxford and does occasionally visit the local hostelries, so possibly I s...

Re: Are the mods active?

Hello there. Two of our volunteer mods have by coincidence both been away for a little while. I was a bit busy too, and only just spotted the queue for approval of posts. Sorry about that. For anyone new here who might be wondering, the Philosophy Now forum's settings are such that the first post by...

There was a previous PN forum?
Yes, there was. It looked quite similar to this one as it used similar software, but was hosted on a free forum hosting site. That was a long time ago, now.

Re: Wankism of the day

It was a private message IU sent him yesterday. Generally it is a no-no for people to publicly post any private messages they receive, unless they have the permission of the sender. In this case, I don't care though. promethean75 is kind of in special measures. Any more trouble and he's going to tak...

Hi Florian, welcome. Like bahman, I too abandoned physics for philosophy, but such a long time ago that I've forgotten most of my physics now.

Re: Well, hi!

We need more physicists here. If you have the time, perhaps you'd be kind enough to explain for us outsiders why we should believe in the existence of dark energy and dark matter, rather than thinking that there might be something slightly off with our understanding of gravity?

Re: Dawkins and Hitchens admit there IS evidence for God?

This thread seems to have run down into a dark place. I'm going to lock it and then I'm going delete it. Behave yourselves folks, or people will be getting kicked out of this forum, OK?
