Re: Being Impartial

No god no. That's why a second opinion medically, is a legal right in my country. Although they are actually paid in my country at least by the government, not Big pharma, but the point remains cogent.

Likewise you can't trust anyone's opinion on its own and fortunately most reasoned people do not.

Re: Science based on a paradox?

I think what duszek is saying is a vital aspiration for all scientists to have. And that is why we have peer review, which can uncover a failure of this kind. What we can never do is remove the interests (financial and prestigious), that gathered to bring the study or research into being. Oh yeah I...

Re: Why are the rich entitled to be rich?

"The problem with the poor is poverty, the problem with the rich is uselessness." George Bernard Shaw. He did have a point: the rich are often too busy caring about money to do anything useful with it, to help their fellow man for example, often to even care about those who have not, few s...

Welcome to our mad house, I am sure if you like philosophy you will enjoy our particular brand of lunacy. :)

"Strong in the arm, weak in the head", is what they say about the West of England, prove them wrong. :P

Incidentally I was born in Cornwall.

Wow. Has this strand ever died and gone to seed since last I looked in. That will teach me to be nonlocal. In fairness, jackles is at least trying to incorporate science into his beliefs, rather than insist that his beliefs are scientific. On top of that, he isn't blithely rude to other cont...

0. hypothesis 1. can you prove it 2. if not return to 0 3. if you can prove it, can it be subjectively repeated by peers, in order to provide some sort of objectivity by repetition. 4 if not return to 0 5 You have proven it to people by replication and peer review. 6. tentative theory at best 7. ret...

Re: My opinion of the human race.

Trixie puts on a show of being non-human, therefore sub-human as she displays none of the positive qualities associated with being a good human being. I'm guessing she's a juvenile, living in her parents basement, and bitter about her lack of accomplishment. that's unnecessary an ad hominem like th...

Re: ~ Why I Invented Language ~

There's nothing wrong with lying Bill, even the Bible does not say all lying is wrong, it only says bearing false witness is. Telling your son he is a great little boy for doing nothing much, when he needs a cheery note in his disappointed life, well that is pretty much a white lie. Telling the magi...

Extremely useful of course, fluid and air flow mechanics are just a different medium that can be adjusted accordingly in these equations.

I posted that ages ago though, so my instinct tells me it was flawed. But I shall look into it.

Re: Crucifixion and Sacrifice.

It was a very simple message at the time, it said that Jesus came to free us from the sin that had enslaved us. Of course very simple messages don't really last in an ever more sophisticated world, so since The Bible can never change, the message remains open to ridicule in a more modern era. Which ...

I don't see why it's necessary to be condescending. Boring? lol Your god-level argument is one of the most immensely boring thoughts I can remember reading. As it relates to our human predicament, it's irrelevant what the "gods" are subjugating. Willing is what humans do. So we should be ...

Yes it is and it's the language of logic I suspect you need to brush up on.
did you understand hitler is a or x.

It means you were not claiming Hitler was a but something else hence was true due to Hitler being a.

Is that clear now?
