Re: philosophy destroys lives - think with caution
I think we must agree that all thoughts are quite valueless until they can be attached "to something". We are like artists who are quite poor until we somewhat get picked up by something *really* liking us, and who got cash and stuff. There exists a fine balance of course between making va...

The Hidden Problem of Localizing Ethical Value
Most discussions go on like this: "If this-x and this-y then this-a? Or this-b?" That's ethics and ontology in a nutshell. But what if we changed the set? The "result" of a question: "if x and y then a or b or something else?", seems to always be a question of "can...

Re: What is happiness?
Key to Happiness: At times when things are going well, BE AWARE OF THAT. That's happiness. What's the difficulty? Bloody short advice I'd say. Of course you should be aware if things are going good. But waiting for things to get good so you can be aware of it sounds pretty dumb if you ask me. Do so...

Re: The death sentence / capitol punishment
Of course, killing someone who has killed "in the past" is a murder, whatever way you look at it, and if you are to kill every murderer you have to kill every executioner also, which pretty much gives you an endless chain of killing the executioners of executioners. All forms of rationaliz...

Re: Subjects, Objects and Transjects
Quite interesting. But I would reckon that the dictionary is actually wrong in its definition and your term is utterly not necessary. A subject is anything that can be referred to uniquely, a unique object. A subject's mind is a subject''s mind and not the subject in total unless for some weird reas...

Re: Is Philosophy Progressive?
Have you ever played a computer game called Civilizations 5? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilization_5) To the question of the title (as a side-note, I also read the article), in that game you have types of core straight-forward progressions (besides the more situational making of cities, armies ...

Re: Metaphysics/Physics
Hmmm.... your "Being-As-A-Whole" word an following name "Integrative Philosophy" makes me picture in my head some greek robed bald philosopher looking at some array of items thinking to himself "which of these parts belong to me as a whole?"...

The Voice of Time
1) I found this page via google looking for a place to spawn my thoughts without next-persons look of stupor 2) I write philosophy 3) I've loved philosophy from the first time I saw the famous movie "Sophie's World" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sophie%27s_World). A movie I think there isn...
