Re: Virtue-signalling tip

He's a mining CEO ffs. Which might be a bad thing, and might be a good thing -- we don't know. So I'm not defending him or judging him. I'm talking about ourselves: about our attitude, our reactions, our own view of life. Why do we focus on how much money the man has, instead of saying, "Oh, good.....

Re: Virtue-signalling tip

Getting into the billions is pretty fucking ridiculous--it indicates that the person is a hoarder, obsessed with increasing their wealth for no purpose other than to feed their mental illness. Freeing these greedy mental-defectives from the burden of their obsession is doing them a favour. I couldn...

Re: Virtue-signalling tip

I do hope this is fake news... Okay, that might be virtue signalling. But it's concerning that petty jealousy can be the motivation for objection here. What I mean is that there are two ways of reporting this: 1. Andrew Forest has donated ten million dollars to bushfire communities. (Yay) :D :D :D ...

Re: How can we defeat "us vs. them" mentality?

Is it possible to break down "us vs. them" mentality? How? Why would it be a good thing if we did? "Us" and "them" are very serviceable pronouns. In fact, you used them in the OP: you said "we." But who are "we," if there's no "they"? So you also believe in us-them. In point of fact, you're...

Re: "Free will was given to man by god."

Fated implies predictable. If some specified future event E must occur it can in theory be predicted. Only "in theory," and only if human knowledge were omniscient. There's no implication in the word that any particular person can predict anything. And that's what some Compatibilist-Determinists us...

Re: "Free will was given to man by god."

The difference between the human and the rock with regard to the multiple effects of multiple causes is the rock has no knowledge of its choices therefore it has no choices. However the human has the knowledge of available choices***. Then you are no Determinist, no matter what you might think. In ...

Re: "Free will was given to man by god."

"Locked in " relates to the extent to which Henry may be able to change his mind according to reason and increased knowledge. You've misunderstood what "Determinism" means, B. It does not allow for "minds" to be causal agents, and it doesn't allow for any "change" not obligated by prior causes. Min...

Re: "Free will was given to man by god."

No, that has not been my experience at all, so stop putting projections on me. None of my friends say such things either. Your personal experience is irrelevant to the question. You said that the left doesn't call the conservatives "uncompassionate." They do, and they do it loudly and often. If you...

Re: Americas

Agreed but the precedent was set by the Repubs and for a lot less than using one's office and private mates to dig up dirt on rivals from a foreign state for an upcoming election, no? No. It doesn't seem that that happened. There is, so far as anyone can find, no evidence of such a thing. The Ukrai...

The accusation is true. Like I said, do the Google search, and you'll know for sure.

Re: "Free will was given to man by god."

Are you suggesting that there is some kind of exclusive situation where "the Left" is launching unjustified claims at "conservatives"? No. I'm only saying that "uncompassionate" is one of the most common slanders they float. So you're a slanderer against slanderers? You should look up the word "sla...

Re: "Free will was given to man by god."

IC, the word "always" is not the issue. Think more broadly, and you will see. It's the only word you could take issue with, in that statement. Would you venture instead that Leftists "rarely" think of conservatives as uncompassionate? Would you say "never"? Pick what you like, and either way, I thi...

You're as transparent as you are ridiculous.
And you, alas, are as ad hominem as you are irrelevant.
