Re: Did anyone have an irrational fear as a child,or still d

"My dog doesn't have a nose." "How does it smell?" "Terrible." DOC.. was that on purpose? [the oldest joke in human history] elucidate No, actually it was all quite accidental, I accidentally turned on the computer, logged on here, and just happened to lean on the keyboard in just the right way. Al...

Re: Music

An upright in a shed would not give the same quality of sound, but for other genra it might work. Anyway this was the only video of Victor Borge playing that piece that I could find. The setting, instrument, and genra of music need to suitable for the best effect. I happen to prefer classical music ...

Re: Who has a philosophy degree?

One view is that God set the universe in motion, from galaxies to microbes and quantum particles. If you step in the way of a falling rock, you are going to get hurt, and did God do it? Yes, but as part of the whole construction of the Universe. Those who look to blame God everytime they stub their...

Re: Did anyone have an irrational fear as a child,or still d

In war the attack is always the choice.. even when out numbered. the germans are good at war. But will they produce a monty python? no. The first is my entire strategy, figuratively speaking, I'm outnumbered by most, size, strength, speed. But if I can sneak something in quick and hard, I'll pound ...

Re: You must not kill any living being for the sake of your

Some amino acids can only be found from animal products. Your yoga teacher is no nutritionalist. Everybody is different and has to find out which diet is the right one for their unique bodies. All very true, many people avoid eating fat for fear of gaining weight, but fat is the real fuel of the bo...

Re: You must not kill any living being for the sake of your

Dataswarmi why do you dismiss the fact that plant life is alive and deserves not to be killed? The forests cry out for you to stop eating and if you were a real incarnation you would only eat sunlight nowadays. Plucking leaves and fruits is not killing. In plants life exists but mind and intelligen...

Re: Did anyone have an irrational fear as a child,or still d

When I was growing up I wasn't afraid of much of anything, and I think it helped that I didn't show any fear, people left me alone. When I was in college I found one possible explination, we were studying the Illiad and the battle of Achilles and Hector. Achilles charged in unafraid and Hector was a...

Re: Who has a philosophy degree?

"God cannot love" then he is no god i would EVER embrace. I'll tell him that next time he gives me cancer again. The point is that Spinoza/Einstein's God is not a person. Then your 'God' is very limited and I do not see God as having limits. BTW, God does not 'give' you anything that you do not ask...

Re: Who has a philosophy degree?

If that is true then how do you explain the variety of philosophical positions offered by those with philosophy degrees? Human imagination knows no limits but the truth is somewhat more limited in scope, so since most philosophers are just making shit up that would lead to quite a variety of nonsen...

Re: Hello, - again.

As I stated above, I owned a hobby shop and people would bring model trains for me to repair, I happened to be very good at it and some of my friends started calling me thedoc, as in the train doctor. Since then I have used that as my internet I.D. and decided that I should addopt a self inflicted P...

Re: Hello, - again.

So you're a grandpa, well though you've obviously read philosophy a long time ago I once heard that people of old age has a great inclination for philosophy. Would be interested to see you in the field of battling arguments ;) Just because he's retired and had grandkids doesn't necessarily mean he'...
