"Most of those who wrote replies seem to be overlooking this question: Is there anything in your past record to show that you have implemented policies that put people first - before things and numbers - and thus are likely to follow through...?" I didn't overlook that question...I just don't care a...

Jack,

Speakin' only for me: I'm the on-going result of a particular brain, in a particular body, in an environment.

Mebbe you are sumthin' more or different.

Me: content to be flesh and bone and brain and blood and gland.

*shrug*

Stuart,

I'm not tryin' to be adversarial...in my own way: I'm just addin' to the conversation.

"The best way to know if your living in fantasy is to see if your ideals are flattering." Agreed. The whole of what passed for civilization is designed to make the directed 'feel', and to feel special, or unique, or different. Pampered and catered to, they rarely note the leash around the neck. # "N...

"What Would Evidence for God's Existence Be Like?"

Speaking only for me: a one-to-one conversation with God would do it.

Not an angel, or His Son, or some other proxy (to hell with prophets).

If God gives a flip about what I think: come to my house...I'll make coffee...we'll chat.

Stuart, Domestication is the goal and method of what passes for civilization (the civilizers), yes. So what? Since before man fell out of the trees, the strong have corralled the weak, used the weak. This is obvious to any one with one open eye and three workin' brain cells. A body directs, is direc...

"Obviously a person can use a gun to wound."

Sure, you can 'try' to shoot to wound, but, if you wanna just incapacitate someone, there are better tools (taser, pepper spray, etc.).

And: any gun user will tell you, you never shoot to wound.

You shoot to kill.

Re: Hypocrisy

"I appropriate the tool." Indeed. You can use a gun as hammer or plow or back scratcher but this would be silly cuz -- while you 'can' use any tool for any purpose -- most tools (like guns) are designed expressly with 'a' purpose. In the case of guns: designed to fling a bit of metal at high speed, ...

"I have come to the conclusion...the ultimate or most mortal sin...is hypocrisy."

I disagree.

Hypocrisy is just lying (sumthin' every one does).

The 'sin, then, is to willfully ignore what 'is' (people lie) in favor of what 'isn't' (folks are naturally honest).

That is: the 'sin' is to be a chump.

Paper is not going anywhere. It's too friggin' convenient. Until e-versions of anything (more accurately: till e-readers) become as low maintenance and convenient as sheets of paper, paper is here to stay. I can buy PN in the bookstore and use/abuse its physicality as I like. I can take it anywhere,...

Yuujin, You should visit PN from time to time. Can't see any point in droppin' out completely. Doin' so just lets the dicks rule. # "...why anything else other then bio-survival would become more important ..." Humans do all kinds of things that have no apparent foundation in 'bio-survival'.
