Re: The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights

Basically, in Europe, tribalism ended there with the UN solution of Human Rights. That finally brought freedom to Europe because of it. Now it's slowly changing the peace in the Arab/Muslim world because of the deteriorating occurring in tribalism there.

Re: The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights

If human rights whose essence is based on treating humans as humans regardless of differences then a UN declaration of such codified into numbered articles will be almost ineffective as already confirmed in places where it's most required and merely resolves into a bureaucratic argument of abstract...

Unfit For The Future.

Philosophy Now wrote an article on "Unfit For The Future: The Need for Moral Enhancement" a few years ago. However, I found the subject of that book a failure to Human Rights.

Re: The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights

I believe that the growth of Human Rights has improved the world and humanity more than any other group. The Arab/Muslim world will slowly improve with its development of Human Rights.

Re: The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights

It is really difficult to understand the Declaration of Human Rights. But Human Rights with the UN definitely changed the world. Human Rights have stopped worlds from complete wars as in the past. The battles that are fighting the Arab/Muslim world will it time add Human Rights there. Hope you peopl...

Re: The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights

I don't believe that Philosophy Now mentioned the fact that the Holocaust during WW2 helped create the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We didn't say so in so many words, but there is a little about the history of the Declaration in the article about Sartre, and also I said at the end of my e...

Re: Envisioning Society

Turkey and Russian envision society much differently from that in the West. They resent the West, who have societies that support human and minority rights, and freedom of expression. Turkey and Russia jail their citizens for criticizing their leaders, something unheard of in Western societies. Russ...

Re: Envisioning Society

The editorial about "Envisioning Society" writes, "But it does demonstrate that society is still liable to change, if only because it must adapt to the world that societies themselves change". There are multiple societies in the world and some of them have collapsed, not just under their own weight ...

Re: Envisioning Society

I don't think the articles on society were that great. The society PN discussed was of a limited type, like it was just of British society and of a certain order. PN didn't discuss the different ideas in society that coexist in Britain. I am thinking about the Brexit aspect of society. The Brexit pe...

Re: Envisioning Society

I was in the hospital the other day. Not often does one envision hospitals when envisioning societies. Hospitals generally come as after thoughts. And it is amazing the medical systems that advanced societies have developed. I remember how much of the medical community collapsed after the Soviet sys...
