Re: Is doing evil a necessity of life?

Greatest, your vision of cooperation and competition is interesting. But not all evil comes from competition. I'm sorry that Richard Dawkins is a Zoologist and a fanatic atheist who uses his literary tributes to spread dishonest argumentation to the masses. I respect atheists and sometimes tolerate...

Re: Is doing evil a necessity of life?

You're right, but which would have a better understanding of theology? I'm sorry that I edited my reply as you typed and that might answer in part. I think the Theologian has the best understanding of course, as the Theologian supplies the source material for Philosophy of Religion. Further, Philos...

Dualism II

This is my first topic. There's another topic in Metaphysics on dualism by member bahman and I'd like to place one here for three main reasons: First, the original topic is extensive enough, 11 pages now; Second, I think it's more proper to be placed it in the Philosophy of Mind; Third, I'd like th...

Re: Is doing evil a necessity of life?

Thanks for your words and your warm welcome, Seeds.

I appreciate very much your quote from Einstein, such a great person. It couldn't be put more clearly.

Re: Is doing evil a necessity of life?

What is it that could make God intentionally allow for an individual to die if he had the capability to prevent it? Is it possible that the greater good to God is a soul going to Heaven rather than continuing it's life on Earth? That's really hard to answer. If it was absolutely true, there would b...

Well, that might be more the contrary, that man must conform to God's expectations. :)

Re: Is doing evil a necessity of life?

Thedoc, what do you mean? If you ask a Philosopher or a Theologian, for instance? In that case the answer would be different for sure. You're right, but which would have a better understanding of theology? I'm sorry that I edited my reply as you typed and that might answer in part. I think the Theo...

Re: Is doing evil a necessity of life?

But thedoc, we're talking about a victim of gravity, and this can happen at any age. We can think about the soul of a 30-year-old man on the floor, but what if that's a pregnant woman with a soul inside her? I think there's no easy answer.

Re: Is doing evil a necessity of life?

Thedoc, what do you mean? If you ask a Philosopher or a Theologian, for instance? In that case the answer would be different for sure. But if you're talking about God to be almighty, I think the answer would be the same as this is a religious dogma and is taken by Philosophy within the concepts of G...

Re: Is doing evil a necessity of life?

I like your reasoning very much, a dilemma, God must either be limited or evil. How about self limiting. The assumption is that God is all powerful, but given free will, can God choose to not exercise that power? Yes, I think so, and that could explain the limits in our world that contribute to evi...

Re: Is doing evil a necessity of life?

Greatest, I thank you very much for your compliments and am happy that you liked my answer. I read yours carefully and find it very interesting indeed and deep, too. Gnostic Christian quote is wonderful. In fact, cancelling gravity would be a never-ending exception incompatible with the existence of...
