Re: Hi from Portugal
. Bill, of course I don't want you to be repetitive, but checking the posts of someone who holds the authorship of almost 3% of the forum is really hard work to check all your experience with drugs. Perhaps I'd end up needing one or entering coma instead. I found a post of yours that I enjoyed very ...

Re: Philosophy of Mind
This section of the forum is for the discussion of anything to do with philosophy of mind. For clarity, this includes anything to do with consciousness, cognitive science and artificial intelligence as well as traditional philosophy of mind. Should this section also include threads on phenomenology...

Re: Dualism II
. Arising: Sensory organs and anything outside the CNS is self-explanatory. I don't expect a blind person to have less of a mind than a person with vision, neither a person without a limb, not even without a liver (but in this case the mind is in imminent danger). For memory, Damasio tells about Dav...

Thanks for the advice, Bill.
Perhaps you'll appreciate that I have adopted your periods elsewhere.

Re: Dualism II
That's interesting, but a little abstract, and doesn't help decide whether memory for instance is part of consciousness.

. What I perceive is the international situation. Norway has just resumed compulsory conscription for a reason. Syria is another Spanish Civil War for sure, but this time Russia's participation is much more active. The countries involved always include the same: Russia, USA, Germany, GB, and France....

BIll, you look like a shrimp (this is a compliment).
My only substance addictions are nicotine and maybe caffeine.
Perhaps you'd like to disclose yours, too.
I don't like psychotropic drugs. Not even alcohol. I'm sorry.

Re: Is doing evil a necessity of life?
Greatest, thanks for the comments.
I think I answered all your questions and I have nothing else to add on the subject.
This topic is about the necessity of evil, so you may wish to create a topic on the fanaticism of Jesus.

I don't prefer drugs, Bill and I don't fear dictatorships. I don't think one is about to come, I think war is nearer us all.

Re: Hi from Portugal
Bill, thanks for your words, I'm fine. The only problem is that they created lots of restrictions on e-cigarettes to the point of creating a huge excise on nicotine, forbidding its importation and treating any attempt of importation as tobacco smuggling, facing a fine up to 165.000€ if it's a small ...

Re: Is doing evil a necessity of life?
Greatest, as discussed before, I don't think that all evil comes from competition, do you? Jesus is a prophet, and as such it's hard to accept him as fanatic, once all his life was divinely determined if you accept the scriptures. Only if you think that Jesus was a charlatan can you classify him as ...

Dontaskme, I quote Natika Newton:
"Phenomenal consciousness is sui generis. Nothing else is like it in any way at all, because anything other than phenomenal consciousness is unconscious, and hence not like anything"
But nothing will stop us, I hope.

Re: Dualism II
Necromancer, I'm not discussing atoms, but paid due attention to your image. However, just by looking at the image, not knowing the source, I can hardly comment it. Isn't that just an illustration or diagram? Anyway, it's beyond any doubt that atoms exit, but seeing them (if it will ever be possible...
