Re: The Inter Mind

I'm not so sure Consciousness itself has memory. Seems like Consciousness uses the Brain for memory and the Brain goes away. It would be nice if it could be shown that Consciousness had some sort of memory. x .............................................................................................

Re: The Inter Mind

How can consciousness physically disconnect from a brain if it is not actually physical? How can consciousness exist outside of a brain when a brain is required to activate it? I know I say the following all the time but to me it is the pivotal argument. All we know at this point is that, for examp...

Re: The Inter Mind

My only realization is that Consciousness seems to be something that exists as a separate thing from the Physical Brain. It seems to be connected to the Brain in some way. I think that since it is something separate from the Brain that it might be able to exist after the Brain is gone. However, I d...

Re: The Inter Mind

I think it is a kind of Conscious substance that we use to experience the world. Steve, thanks for your reply. Is this what you mean by a separate Conscious aspect of mind...> Each of us occupies not only the physical body we see, but a second or spiritual body. This latter will continue to contain...

Re: The Inter Mind

The whole motivation for what I say comes from looking at what Science says about Consciousness. Scientists are determined to prove that Consciousness is an illusion created by the Brain. They say quite arrogantly that there is nothing but the material Brain. Isn't this a little strawman-ish? I'm s...

Re: The Inter Mind

My real interest is in understanding Consciousness. I think that I develop some good arguments for the existence of a separate Conscious Mind apart from the Physical Mind (Brain). Steve, what do you mean by saying ''......I think that I develop some good arguments for the existence of a separate Co...

Re: The Inter Mind

The smallest number will not be an Infinitesimal it will be a single number in a class all by itself. It will have certain properties that Infinitesimals do not have, like dx / 2 = 0. But really it should be dx / n = 0. Probably for all n except maybe where n = Gx, the largest number. What other pr...

Re: The Inter Mind

Since my Conscious Mind has let me ask the question of how Consciousness happens, I think there probably is an answer to the question. It's not that I don't want to believe that Consciousness is One. It's that I am unable to realize that. I actually would like to realize that. I have been trying fo...

Re: The Inter Mind

Any real number above 0 no matter how small can be infinitely divided by a positive integer. So there will never be a point at which the answer will be 0 and this is proof that there is no smallest infinitesimal. In theory the smallest would be an infinity of 0s with I added on the end. But as infi...

Re: The Inter Mind

I know exactly what you mean about dx / 2. Since dx * dx = 0 for the Infinitesimals then maybe for the smallest Infinitesimal dx / 2 = 0. It seems like the smallest number will have that property. It's no worse than dx * dx = 0. There is no smallest infinitesimal. It's a mathematical fact. I don't ...

Re: The Inter Mind

Quote: DAM: Steve... I understand there is a conscious experience of pain else it wouldn't be known. But can the experiencer of pain be an experience? ....if it's already what's experiencing? Same with the image of Red...can the experience of red be inseparable from the experiencer...and can the ex...

Re: The Inter Mind

Of course it is Vacuously true, but true nevertheless. Perhaps I'm not following your point. Saying that "if there is a smallest hyperreal then ..." is no different than saying "if 2 + 2 = 5 then I am the Pope." It's true but doesn't actually mean anything. It's only true by virtue of the premise b...

Re: The Inter Mind

No lurching just pointing out the references that were clearly stated on the website which you said you read. You obviously didn't read the article on the Website. I didn't say SIA said there was a smallest number I said that if there were a smallest number it would have certain properties that are...

Re: The Inter Mind

If Consciousness did not exist there would be no Philosophy of Mind forums. Pain is a good example of proof of the existence of Conscious experience. Pain exists as a thing in itself just as Red exists as a thing in itself. What are these things? Steve... I understand there is a conscious experienc...
