Re: A solution to the hard problem of consciousness

Awareness is the source of experience. You can be pure awareness without any experiences. You can have no thoughts, no feelings, and no sensations and yet still be aware. So you can have awareness without any other experiences, but you cannot have any experience at all without awareness. Right of t...

Re: ~ Self-Consciousness, the Most Valuable Trait of Being Human ~

. The ability to see ourselves is THE most valuable asset of any human and certainly the most valuable asset of being a philosopher. Sure it is because our sense of vision provides us with more information about our environment than any of our other senses. A dog's nose, or a rabbit's ears, could p...

Re: Who's minding the store?

The problem with this is that at the moment I think about something, I'm not thinking about that something not existing at the same time. I'm thinking about that something in how it applies in achieving some goal. To think about it not existing requires a different kind of experience, and it still ...

Re: Who's minding the store?

Somethingness ( Known) IS in relation to Nothingness (Unknown) - these two concepts are in the same moment of THIS conception...the idea something is meaningless without it's counterpart nothing... no counterpart, no whole. That which is known is illusory. The unknown is unknowable. = Zero The prob...

Re: Who's minding the store?

Take away something, and what are you left with? Nothing. Now, you are correct to an extent. Nothingness cannot directly be known, simply because when you lack consciousness, you cannot observe the nothingness you are, precisely because you aren't. But the strange thing is, that others can observe ...

Re: Who's minding the store?

Infinity is zero. Zero is infinity. The infinite state is always already at, in, of, and as the zeropoint-or always already and irreducibly prior to all numbers, all quantities, all "objects", and all "difference". The zero-point is always already at, in, of, and as the infinite state-or always alr...

Re: Who's minding the store?

No one is thinking, thoughts arise in consciousness...which is not a thought or a thing. There's nothing outside of that arena. "trees growing themselves" and "life moving" is a movement of thought within consciousness only. Movement is just sensation which is labelled as 'movement'. Right out the d...

Re: Who's minding the store?

What I meant by 'there is thought', is that there is mind, awareness, consciousness. And that is the 'you'. It's the only thing we can be certain of. And as I've stated, I'm not a solopsist, as you seem to be. You'd have to have a self to be a solopsist. The self is, but it's not being anything in ...

And being everything it is nothing, in the sense that it's like a flashlight in a dark room that can never shine light on the cause of the illumination. So there's just what's appearing and no one to reject any of it...including all these words and there meanings as they appear. In effect, nothing i...

Re: Does the Mind See?

What I was thinking was - can I say that the picture below is something not seen with the eyes but with the mind, and that's why it looks the way it does. Would you be happy with that? 4xBmsvXR1A6BriVz.jpg The mind, nor the eye are the ones that see. Seeing is a process that includes both eyes and ...

Re: Is It Possible To Think Without Language?

Of course it is possible. This man never learned a language yet was able to survive long enough to be discovered by Susan Schaller and taught sign-language and a late age.

The problem with religion is that anyone can make any claim that they want and say it is the standard for any known religion. Who can really claim that they are the true follower of any religion? Who really knows what the true beliefs and practices are of any one religion? The texts of any major rel...

Re: NON-PC language

Generating new words that mean the same thing as words that have been tabooed is only natural. When you take away someone's ability to speak freely, they either keep their ideas to themselves and you will never know that they are actually a racist or sexist until it's too late - when they show their...

Re: Self-awareness?

This is simple: We know that we don't have any sense that we could experience self directly. We however directly experience our actions and deduce that there is a being with self who performs the actions. How could we be sure that there is a self? The first statement doesn't seem to make any sense....
