Re: Time does not exist.

Harbal wrote: And what do you call the thing in between any two points of motion?
I can call that time. The problem is that there is nothing like flow of time. The flow of time is nothing more than the relative motion of our standard clock compared to our psychological motions.

Re: Materialism is logicall imposible

Of course it does. You reach for a cup, I reach for a cup. We both expect the same thing. If I had reached for a cup of coffee while expecting to score a goal in a football match and it actually happened, then what you said would be true. The fact is that when you do anything, anyone else doing the...

Re: Time does not exist.

How do you get through a normal day without behaving as if time does exist? I use the motion of something whether it is my clock or my psychological motion to move on. If somebody wanted you to meet them in 1 hour how would you handle the situation? I use a standard clock which move uniformly. 1 ho...

Re: Time does not exist.

We had a friend here who suggested that space does not exist. Only time does. When you look at distant stars, what you are actually measuring is time and not distance. For instance when you observe a star 5000 light years away, you are not seeing it in the present form. You are watching something t...

Re: Materialism is logicall imposible

...So your premise that what we expect to happen can be anything is not really correct. Why not? The problem is that any state of affair goes to another state of affair subjected to laws of nature. There is no room left for anything to intervene including consciousness. The problem is that why what...

How do you propose we function without behaving as if it does exist?
I don't understand your question and how it could be related to OP.

Re: Time does not exist.

Stuff happens. The Earth goes found the Sun. It rotates as it does so. Pendulums swing. Atoms vibrate. It is by counting these things that we get a sense of time, but all we are doing is counting events. There is no evidence that there is a discrete substance called time in which these things happe...

Re: Materialism is logicall imposible

I think I haven't understood the connection you are trying to make here. You said that under materialism, C is not needed as laws of motion are governed by nature. Your example does not seem to satisfactorily explain what you mean because the laws of motion are not governed by C. What C does is sim...

What is the use of consciousness when it comes to thought?

1) We can be conscious of one thought in any given time when we focus on a subject 2) This means that we cannot consciously process thoughts 3) This means that thoughts are processed in our subconscious minds 4) This means that there is no use of consciousness when it come to thought I am really puz...

We cannot have a relationship with God

God is changeless. Relationship is about cause and effect. As an example, you do something to please another person (act), this act changes the person (effect), the person in reply does something to please you. This means that making relationship with God is impossible since we cannot change Him.

Re: Materialism is logicall imposible

Let's think of the same situation, I raise my hand to pick up my cup of coffee. That is what you expected and is subject of our discussion. I mean you grasp the cup of coffee. As my hand reaches the cup handle, I sneeze and push the cup over. That is not what I expected. Or after lifting the cup, I...

Re: Materialism is logicall imposible

Are you suggesting that what we expect to happen, happens? What is the fantastic correlation you are referring to? Lets think of a situation where you sit on your chair. You decide to raise your hand and pick up your cup of coffee, what you expect (C), and what happen is that you raise your hand an...

Re: Time does not exist.

We experience forms and motions. Time is a concept that we use to have an idea about two motions, one is our standard clock and another is subject of our experience. You should try sitting in my doctor's waiting room. I can assure you that time most definitely exists in there. You have no sense to ...
