Re: What is Life?

You are confused and have contradicted yourself. You need to think this through more clearly. I have highlighted in red where this contradiction is. And once again, your question is meaningless. Meaningless is a matter of opinion to which you are entitled. I'll give you a new question that has a de...

Re: What is Life?

Consult the science of Biology. What else is on your mind here? I do not know what you are driving at. Consulting biology is an open end. Lets go back to my basic observations. My question is very simply: do you accept that there is a difference between 'being alive' and 'having life' ? Prior to bi...

Re: What is Life?

Hobs Choice. You stated that “Life does not "enter" like a burgler. Life is a consequence of particular conditions of matter.” I agree but the question then arises: when do those particular conditions for life start; what can we observe? To avoid side tracking, let us confine our discussion to a hu...

Re: Abortion is murder, or is it?

IC (although Ican seems more appropriate) Thanks indeed for your extensive discussion. Do I discern an Irish touch of the “gift of the gab”? I submitted this strand for all and sundry’s scrutiny, including ”indoctrinated” sheep. We love sheep, still have 6 ewes grazing our small acreage. I am not a...

Re: Abortion is murder, or is it?

Immanuel , seeing that you brought God into this abortion issue, I was born in 1927 in the Netherlands in a strict Catholic environment, went to a High School run by Jesuits, moved to NZ in 1952 and on to Australia in 1970. I went to church each Sunday until the 1990’s after semi-retiring which gav...

Re: Abortion is murder, or is it?

from Post by Immanuel Can » Thu Jun 30, 2016 1:58 pm, in where he wrote: No, I'm not worried about God's wrath. I'm worried for you. Human lives do not belong to you or me, or to "women"; they belong to God. Those who take them do not answer to me. Immanuel, like any of us, you are free to believe a...

Re: What is Life?

Life is the thinest of biological scum that forms a thin stratum on the surface of the earth. As yet there is no other known example of this apparent anomaly. Do you not recognise a difference between "being alive" i.e. NOT an individual, and having life i.e. being alive after its life has entered ...

Re: Abortion is murder, or is it?

Was what Gosnell did murder ?
That depends on whether he dealt with an alive foetus or with a born baby with life, i.e. a person.
For an alive foetus it is not murder. For a baby that has come to life, I consider that murder.

Re: What is Life?

Quoted from Post by Dalek Prime » Tue Jun 28, 2016 6:19 am “ I really don't like the term 'life'. I prefer 'existence'. Though non-living things exist, so perhaps 'existence of consciousness'... Meh, too long. Perhaps 'excon' for short? “ That thought has crossed my mind also, and the need became ap...

Re: What is Life?

thedoc wrote on Jun 27 at7:43am ”. . . . when life starts is a very contentious subject, and I don't think the OP will settle it for many people, there is just too much emotion involved. FYI I did finally read the whole OP, and the question of when does life start , is still up in the air.” I wrote...

...something you receive without having ordered but have to keep on paying for with no "Return to Sender" address on it. If life is amazing it's ONLY because it exists and for no other reason. Re: Abortion is murder, or is it?

What does that have to do with abortion? You are a bloody moron. Do you think sperm are dead? Every time you masturbate you are murdering millions of living beings. S Sperm is alive, egg is alive, zygote is alive, but are not individuals with life. A packet of dried seeds is "viable", waiting for f...
