Re: Perception

Knowledge begins with consciousness. I do not mean that consciousness is itself knowledge, but that if we are to know anything we must first be conscious of it. It is not enough just to be conscious, however, if it is to be capable of providing us knowledge. If what we are conscious of is not total...

Re: Consciousness IS - but it's NOT a ''Conscious Experience''

If you insist on defining the word Knowledge as meaning All Possible Knowledge then what you are saying can make sense. But it is not sensible to define Knowledge that way. I think Science only has partial Knowledge of the Universe. I think other Knowledge exists and that it has not been discovered...

Re: Cartesian dualism

Is that a monistic or dualistic view of reality? Does it really make any difference what we call it? There is no dualist view of reality, all views are known by nondual observing which is not-known, hence any view is a fictional representation of the unknown nondual actual present. Hence many autho...

Awareness is driven by volition.
Awareness (latent) free will.

Intention (kinetic) consciousness is born.

Intention is the rider of the will.

Re: Consciousness IS - but it's NOT a ''Conscious Experience''

I agree that we probably need more Knowledge before the answer to the question is obtained. But that's all I have ever asked is that people think about this problem more Deeply in order to create the new Knowledge that will be necessary. There is no such knowledge as new knowledge - there is only k...

No. It means that the brain is the source; not that there is a source inside the brain.
You are obsessed with imposing a dualism.
The brain is the source is dualistic, it's imposing dualism, don't worry it's unavoidable since duality is all that is known.

Re: Cartesian dualism

Of course I think the Gap does exist. How can the Knower be the Known? It may very well be true, but I need Explanations. Just saying the words does not satisfy me. Like I always say I'm still thinking about this Oneness thing ... Thinking about oneness creates 'otherness' where there is none. Thin...

Re: Locked Mind Thought Experiment

The idea there is a source outside the brain implies there is a source inside the brain. NO it does not. But this discussion is about consciousness, which is what the brain does according to you. You are implying the brain is the source of consciousness and that consciousness is not from some mysti...

Re: Locked Mind Thought Experiment

I am saying that the human brain is NOT collecting impressions and thoughts from a remote source, and that the key to understanding consciousness is to be had through the study of neural activity, not from some mystical source outside the brain. The idea there is a source outside the brain implies ...

Re: Locked Mind Thought Experiment

I usually think of [ absolute ] nothing and non existence as being fundamentally the same Now I have to accept that there is a difference between them - albeit a rather subtle one I cannot accept No Thing as a part of reality but can understand it from a conceptual perspective Because I think that ...

Re: Locked Mind Thought Experiment

... The statement made that there is an assumed 'Awareness' as an entity outside of us? makes absolutely no sense to me. . The fact you can use "me" should make you blush but maybe I have the wrong end of your schtick, so are you claiming that there is only this Awareness in reality and in fact rea...

Re: Cartesian dualism

Conscious Experience is one such Category of Phenomena that is not Explained yet. Steve, let us try to explain it ourselves ok? The thing is, all I am ever doing here on this forum is attempting to explain it myself from my own direct subjective experience, it's all I ever do, I don't believe the a...

Re: Cartesian dualism

They say some good stuff. Speaking is nothing more than just fleeting 'non-material sound' heard as 'material words' within the IMMATERIAL mind/body mechanism, it's a process that has only a temporal relationship with the MATERIAL shapes and forms described. ''Individuality'' the idea there is a 't...

Re: Locked Mind Thought Experiment

Except of course if what you you say is true then you couldn't know it is as what you say is just a thought. That is, Kant would then be right and any idea about what the Noumena is, Awareness, a Sim 'God', etc is just metaphysical wishful thinking. Unless of course I have got the wrong end of your...

Re: The Nature of Consciousness

No concept ever asked a question. I really shouldn't respond to this, but I do believe in being a courteous as possible, so I'll just ask where anyone suggested a concept ever asked a question? Do you know what a concept is? Thanks for being courteous, I do hope you were not prising this courtesy o...
