Re: Why are bombs OK, but guns bad?

What complete nonsense. Asteroids, MAD, alien invasion, swine flu and the heat death of the universe have got nothing to do with this, stop embarrassing yourself. The problem with guns is that you own one (I assume), and if I say something mean to you on the internet, you might just lose your shit a...

Re: Why are bombs OK, but guns bad?

Your fear runs so deep that, you are blinded by your ignorance of simplicity. Hypothetical: "here take my gun, now all I have to do is spike the water supply with cyanide." If we've neglected to regulate the supply of cyanide, that's a bit of a concern. We should make that illegal too. Thanks for t...

Re: Why are bombs OK, but guns bad?

Commercial aircraft are very heavily regulated too. I have no licence so I can't fly one (which is lucky, because I would crater it and kill people). I'm also not allowed to build radiological equipment because I would give people cancer if I tried that. I'm pretty sure if I tried to open a pharmacy...

Re:

An experiment (for any one): pick an item, a tool, an instrument you find extremely useful, perhaps even find indespensable. Now, what's your response when folks who know little about such a device, promote the regulation (or even the banning) of that tool based on disembedded facts and one-size-sh...

Re: Should inferior product/service businesses be forced out of business?

Companies with inferior products get battered all the time. Nokia and Blackberry are recent examples. Huge government intervention was unable to do anything for the entire UK car industry because its end product was universally awful. Only selling it off to foreigners rescued it. Over time, somethin...

Re: Why are bombs OK, but guns bad?

Yeah. That's why you probably shouldn't be allowed to posses a firearm.

Re: Why are bombs OK, but guns bad?

The gun is a thing that you want and enjoy. You may even find it useful. But it's a stretch to describe it in terms of need. Society gains nothing much from you having that gun, even if you don't do anything wrong with it. But if you do get up to something naughty, innocent lives stand to be lost. Y...

Re: Why are bombs OK, but guns bad?

You had just raised the fact of the existence of nuclear weapons as if it has something to do with gun control around the house. If I missed the purpose of your argument, I feel justified, because it can only be poor.

Re: Why are bombs OK, but guns bad?

All arguments for and against hand guns are in fact fear laden. PERIOD! But there's a new kid on the block, indiscriminate of the source of everyone's fears! It's surely M.A.D.! OK. Follow the logic of this. You don't approve of controlling handguns because the only reason to do so is fear, which i...

Re: Why are bombs OK, but guns bad?

Don't lie about our motives when we don't congratulate you on the widespread sale of armaments to psychopaths. Inevitable, and no matter how much gun control, some psychopaths are going to get there hands on guns - some sane people will go crazy and kill people - Nothing will make guns safe except ...

Re: Why are bombs OK, but guns bad?

If the claim that when terrorists use bombs - the terrorists get blamed, but when they use guns the guns get blamed instead were true, then guns would be irrational instrument for terrorism (terrorism must by definition have a political objective, guns by definition have no political aspirations). ...

Re: Why are bombs OK, but guns bad?

If guns were blamed instead of terrorists, terrorists wouldn't use guns. This is surely false logic. No, the logic is very straight forward. The falsehood is the suggestion that guns are ever blamed "instead" of people. That's a basic and obvious category mistake. This thread should never have made...

Re: The morality of non-recreational gambling

I would suggest avoiding the equivalence route of comparing to gambling to something else. You may say that it is a bit like investment. But that gives others an in to say your argument reminds them of the suggestion that heroin is ok for those that can take it once in a while, and only bad or wron...

Re: ~ Singleton: Hell On Earth or the Perfect Democracy? ~

Etherium is not a Singleton. Even if it had such qualities as you describe, it would lack those in your definition of the term above. This is sample code for their contract in a blockchain concept. It's well commented, so you don't need to have any programming skills to understand what's going on. I...
