Re: Rule of Man ... Rule of Law

Torture is counterproductive to extracting useful information. The majority of the intel is bunk as most people will say anything to make torture stop. Anyone who thinks torture is an effective method of gathering intel is naive. I didn't create myself but I do have the power to end it and tens of ...

Re: Couple Things I Don't Understand About the Trump Policies...

First, I am a "godless capitalist" and fuck Trump. He's a sleazy sack of shit and the amount of support he's gotten from the GOP base is directly a result of the TEA-Party and Fox News drumming up fear and spouting utter bullshit. Fox News opposition to Trump is nothing if not hypocritical and ironi...

Re: What creates inflation?

Bob. Elected governments have a duty of care to the people who elected them. Elected government officials have a duty of care? Jesus Christ, where the fuck are you from? It must be some heretofore mystical country where all the candidates for political office were related to Mother Teresa! If you'v...

Re: In a multiverse, is there a universe that started first?

Time inside each universe wouldn't matter. A "first" universe would require a time scale outside those universes amd a beginning to it as well, which would only push the genesis problem one step further.

Re: New Guy

I'm tempted to agree with the argument about scale, but I think that might be masking a deeper difference. Given that we all live in a global economy with global media, how is it that Iceland managed to pursue the bankers whilst the USA did not? Is Iceland not part of the same world? Is the questio...

Re: What creates inflation?

So you can't say that the Federal Reserve is totally independent of the government. There is influence. The Federal Reserve is NOT part of the government, any more than the Supreme Court is. I'm not suggesting that there is no influence from government but in fact this influence would be vastly les...

bobevenson wrote:The government is 100% responsible for inflation. In fact the Federal Reserve has a policy of creating 2.5% inflation per year, and that whole tribe of bastards should be indicted, tried, convicted and put behind bars for the crime of grand larceny against the American people.
100% agree.

Re: What creates inflation?

Money isn't wealth nor potential wealth. It is a measure of wealth. Wealth lies in the tangibles, the goods and services that get produced. That's exactly what I'm getting at. You get money so you can trade it for tangibles. If tangibles = wealth and money can be traded for tangibles, that means mo...

Re: New Guy

You're going to need to be a bit more specific than "democracy." Iceland's handling of bank fraud and corruption is a great example of justice working, but their population is very small compared to the US or even the UK. This is more evidence for the increased power of smaller and localized governm...

Re: What creates inflation?

An increase of money chasing an unchanged amount of product will result in increased prices. When the money dupply in an economy increases without an increase in the expansion of the economy, all prices will rise and that is known as inflation. Money is not wealth, it is only potential wealth. Incre...

Re: New Guy

Still no answer to the question I've posted repeatedly. Which is what? Seriously, are there any socialists or communists who would like to explain the finer details of their economic model? How do you expect to keep the wealthy from using government itself from tipping the scales in their own favor?

Re: ~ 75 Reasons You LOVE Democratic Socialism ~

What is important to note. It is not HOW MUCH you spend on socialist programmes, but ON WHAT you spend that money. You have to consider the values of the product. US military spending is around $700 billion per year, last time I looked, but renders little value, as it mainly is used to destroy fore...

Re: imagination - asset or liability?

Imagination is a positive force. It is the father of all innovation, necessity being the mother. In order to change the world you have to imagine that it can be any other way that the way it is. Anxiety is a different monster, though related. Of course anxiety is detrimental but it is an excess of c...

Re: ~ 75 Reasons You LOVE Democratic Socialism ~

If literally any program that is taxpayer funded is socialism then the difinition of socialism is too broad to matter.
