Re: The World Needs a Leader

Any alien species that has climbed to the top of the tree of sentience on its own planet will know the score. The only way to get there is to become your own genetic engineer and eat the dumb ones. That won't happen until we stop giving them the kind of jobs which put them in charge. Thereafter any...

Re: The World Needs a Leader

UA... Do you think that mankind is evolved enough to BE ABLE to even understand that "enough is enough" to the degree needed to actually do something about it? ................................ With so many agendas and viewpoints... and so much aggression... how could a single leader receive the res...

The World Needs a Leader

I consider myself to be an alien theorist - Always hypothesizing the existence of an advanced alien race viewing Man as a somewhat dumb unevolved species that can not escape the nightmares of its historical past - Always opting for political power and control and yet always failing to achieve a stat...

Re: Does Mind Require a Biological Body to be Conscious?

Does Mind Require a Biological Body to be Conscious? No. But "experiencing" requires an "experiencer" (...this "experiencer" being a physical substrate upon which experiencing happens) Note: "mind" is just an 'experience', a thought/concept itself. And how does this exempt computers or machines? Wh...

Re: Does Mind Require a Biological Body to be Conscious?

AI {artificial intelligence} is a misnomer - There is no such thing as artificial intelligence - There is intelligence which is a manifestation of consciousness and a lack there of - It is a false precept that causes Man to divide intelligence into categories - Intelligence is a relentless phenomena...

Re: Does Mind Require a Biological Body to be Conscious?

UA, if higher consciousness leading to self-awareness ever could arise from a machine, we have an ethical responsibility to not create it. History shows Man does not take ethical responsibility for his actions - If 'they' can do it they will. Maybe the only ethical responsibility here is for Humans...

Re: Does Mind Require a Biological Body to be Conscious?

Not quite conscious {yet} but of interest: A very polite robot uprising! Humanoid shows a glimmer of self-awareness - and apologises - during scientific experiment Scientists at The Rensselaer AI and Reasoning Lab (Rair) in New York conducted an experiment on three Nao robots Told the bots two of th...

Re: Does Mind Require a Biological Body to be Conscious?

Alan Turing was a genius of impressive calibre, but he was a mathematician and not a cognitive neuroscientist. He was as qualified to make comment about the nature of consciousness as your dentist is qualified to correct your golf swing. But you know what I'm getting at - If now AI can fool qualifi...

Re: Does Mind Require a Biological Body to be Conscious?

Most of the philosophers here do not see conscious AI as a reality BUT: Computer passes 'Turing Test' for the first time after convincing users it is human "A ''super computer'' has duped humans into thinking it is a 13-year-old boy to become the first machine to pass the ''iconic'' Turing Test, ex...

Re: Reflexions on chess.

Chess, in spite of what you have been told, was developed by Aliens planing to take over the Planet Earth by obsessing the Human psyche with the game. Today with the development of the modern super computer which can beat any Human player we no longer need the game to conquer the planet. The reason ...

The Birth of God and the Beginning of the New Dawn

Are the Atheists right Humans? - Do you create a mythical non-existent being as excuses to dominate and kill each other? What is this being that empowers you to destroy? - This God of destruction, this anti-Human entity? You can hardly blame the Atheists can you? - And see why many so-called Humanis...

Re: Does Mind Require a Biological Body to be Conscious?

I had hoped that you might be able to offer a clue as to exactly what one would be copying if we were to copy a mind onto an artificial template because none of the folk who speculate on such matters seem to be very specific on this point. Here is where they are going - or attempting to go: Scienti...

Re: Does Mind Require a Biological Body to be Conscious?

Are you equating the mind with the brain? What exactly do you reckon constitutes a conscious mind which allows it to be...

Re: Does Mind Require a Biological Body to be Conscious?

Simpler yet - Machines {ie. computers} can already out calculate Humans exponentially. This depends entirely on the nature of the calculation. Computers can perform linear calculations more quickly than humans because they are linear calculating machines simply executing an algorithm. Human minds d...
