This has become a series of ad hominems. Is there no chance of getting back to the OP?
You don't get a reply that way, CS.

Re: A LOGICAL ARGUMENT FOR THE CAUSE OF HUMANITY'S UNNATURAL BEHAVIOR.

1. The actions of the human species has put into motion a mass extinction event on the earth. This behavior more closely resembles the actions of a cancer than of a mammal. 2. The human species is a cancer. 3. The most obvious difference between humans and all other life is our use of thought and o...

Re: Why humans can't get rid of their egos ?

The ego is a shield. The ego says "I am" (and hope to be around for a while).

Why would we insist on keeping our shields? It's a jungle out there! :)

Re: 5 Reasons Going to Mars is a Terrible Idea

Gary, I agree that it's unrealistic for the same reasons - we can't survive there. Radiation, aridness, dust, toxins, extreme cold and planetary dust storms make Mars a terrific place for advanced mobile robots. Imagine that people could be sent out there. How many can conceivably be sent in one cra...

Re: Principles vs Pragmatism

Anamneis is soul knowledge and can be remembered. A priori knowledge is “knowledge that is independent of all particular experiences, as opposed to a posteriori knowledge, which derives from experience” As a secularist confined to one level of reality you must deny both anamnesis and a priori knowl...

Re: Principles vs Pragmatism

Greta You have not addressed the fact that intuitions are unreliable and often wrong. That is exactly why the scientific method came about - to break deadlocks between competing people's intuitions and to expose those claiming false intuitions for gain and influence. What would you propose in lieu ...

A couple from the great old satire, Network. Howard Beale's rants were classic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFvT_qEZJf8

And Jenson's speech in reply is too much fun! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuBe93FMiJc

Re: Principles vs Pragmatism

Greta Individuals, of course, can achieve balanced views and exercise good judgement, and a person does not necessarily need the ancient laws of Bronze Age Arabs to achieve balance, rather, they will ideally jettison such baggage and observe situations as clearly and objectively as possible. This m...

Re: Bias Against Transgenders

Given that every single person on the thread has agreed, why do you keep attacking? It's all a bit weird and obsessive IMO. I wonder if evangelical Christians will ever muster the same passion for the poor or the natural environment as they do for attacking queer people? That would be a happy day, b...

Arising, you seem to deny the caravans approaching America with the intent to crash the border. Let's see if they kill 30,00 a year the way guns do. I have to say that my impression was that the Brits was were brutal, but less so than the Spaniards, Dutch and Portuguese. Not sure if that's how things are reported in the Anglosphere or if it was the case.

Re: Facebook or Philosophy? Which is more Dangerous?

I like this, although I think you give up on philosophy too quickly. I work in an environment of builders/inventors/problem-solvers. People who approach things from first principles all the time. The problem-solving process has a semblance of structure, repetition and iteration to it. There is meth...

Re: Facebook or Philosophy? Which is more Dangerous?

The simple failure of Philosophy is the absence of negative or positive feedback loops. It is the absence of skin in the game. There's no mechanism to signal errors. No mechanism to filter out the fit from the unfit ideas. And if you can't define "error" and "not-error" - well, anything goes really...
