Re: The Liar's paradox

A lot of complicated answers that I don't understand :) What I see are three abstract objects: 1. the container - the statement 2. the container's contents - that refers to the statement - and 3. true/false assessments of the contents and their relation to the container. I can't put my finger on it...

Re: Bias Against Transgenders

And I sat next to him, which I'd never done before. And at a certain point these stars appeared. I don't think he saw what I saw. But for some reason he happened to say, and his voice was unusual, saying something from that part of the heart to me. I never had that kind of intimate emotional relati...

Re: The Liar's paradox

This sentence is false. As the explanation of the paradox goes, if the sentence is false, then it is true since it says it is false. But if it is true, then it is false since it says it is false. Hence the paradox. If you think this is a paradox, please explain briefly how you solve the paradox, if...

Re: Bias Against Transgenders

Judaka, you had nothing to say about the mobbing and stereotyping of the weak but spoke up strongly against the stereotyping of conservatives. // mirror Mobbing and stereotyping of the weak? Nick_A seems more concerned with the actual OP, Walker is indeed being ridiculous and I've said as much and ...

Re: Bias Against Transgenders

What are you talking about? I'm not saying you shouldn't defend your beliefs, standing up for your beliefs or refrain from arguing against the people in this thread. I'm not defending any of the individuals in this thread. I'm really referring to this comment: This seems to just be just conservativ...

Re: Bias Against Transgenders

As you are aware, all it takes is to make an attempt at fair mindedness rather than failing to question one's intrinsic biases. The irony is thick... Even if others' are as hateful as you claim, shouldn't you at least strive to be better than them? You only stoop to their level and indulge in more ...

Re: Bias Against Transgenders

From your first post, I've loved you Greta. Why? Because yours is almost always the voice of reason!! ;-) :-* (<-- no worries that kiss was meant for your cheeks, my fellow voice of reason!) Great minds and all that, you know! It's always a breath of fresh air. ;-) The sad thing is that some others...

Re: Bias Against Transgenders

Herein lies the danger of simplistic labelling. You can be irritated by the nauseating LGBTQP movement and not be a global warming-denier. You can be fed up with the anti-free speech tossers who call themselves 'liberals', and still NOT like Trump, or (not) be religious, or (not) be against equal r...

Re: Bias Against Transgenders

Quote from a Guardian article: As a recovering Christaholic, 12 years sober from God, I’ve been asked before to explain why evangelicals stick with Donald Trump. After all, his attempts at appearing Christian are hopelessly pretentious, he’s bragged about his sins, and has built a career on casinos ...

Re: Bias Against Transgenders

Still wanking on about transpeople and not one post even close to addressing the OP. I'm out of here. I can't stand the fanatical Pentecostal evangelism of you lot. Your rejection of science and reason is odious to most of the world and history will not look kindly upon your retrograde reactionary ...

Re: Bias Against Transgenders

What has any of this to do with unfair competition between genetic males and females?? This seems to just be just conservative tut-tutting about the concept of sex changes per se, seemingly because conservatives believe humans are all made perfect (aside from Democrats, liberals, progressives, secul...

Re: Regrets. I've had a few

Why? Why would we owe nature and all living things the onus of slowing up entropy? I honestly don't get that. It is valiant, I grant it, and it is noble and poetic. But beyond that, I see no ultimate truth or ultimate responsibility. In fact, humans have the ability to transform nature, and that's ...
